New stomach-churning stats from the latest Harpers'
Check this out from the new Harper's:

Number of articles in major U.S. newspapers that have called any White House statement on Iraq a lie: 0

Number of the five tax-cut questions asked the president on Meet the Press last winter that concerned the cuts' inequity: 0

Average amount a Bush Cabinet member will save this year due to cuts in capital-gains and dividend taxes: $42,000

Median U.S. household income in 2002: $42,409

The times the newspapers mentioned Clinton's Pe&&& would tabulate as high as the national debt-but yes that was more important

4. Breathtaking - our media is the worst
The media we have now will go down in history as a pathetic disgrace. One day graduate students will be doing dissertations on how misleading and progandistic it is...

6. The media is the part that causes me the most despair.
Those of us who have working brains and internet access can search out the truth for ourselves. But the major media are so enthralled in their own agenda, and so amenable to misadministration propaganda, that there are few outlets for any opposing points of view.

7. You can find this on their website too--but not for another month.
Here's the link to the archives of Harper's Indexes--well worth going back to read the older ones too. Somewhere on that page it says that they post the Index one month after it appears in print.
