3. My Response
I wrote CNN that the Spanish Socialists won because the outgoing government had been caught lying, and that some voters in some countries take that sort of lying very seriously. If Republican and "conservative" touts and media whores don't like other people holding THEIR elected officials accountable, too bad.

5. Cafferty admits coming up with the question.
A reader said that it was a stupid question and asked "who put you guys up to this?" To which, Jack answered, "I thought of this one myself." Gee, what a surprise.

25. Dear Jingoistic Curmudgeon...
(Just sent...)

You should be ashamed. Instead of speaking to the root cause of the protest...Bush's LIES and Aznar's refusal to listen to the will of the Spanish people...you spoke to your own fears, that Bush might not be re-selected, demonstrating a win for the evil-doers. Your reputation as a jingoistic curmudgeon may be fun for ratings, but it is reprehensible when you minimize the events of the day with your ridiculous demand that America vote for Bush to show solidarity against terrorists. These attacks are BECAUSE of Bush's whacking the hornet's nest, and short of outright stealing the 2004 election, a very real possibility (when was the last time you griped about Diebold on air?), Bush will soon be joining the ever-growing American unemployment line. I hope you're there with him. Your failure to recognize the growing backlash in America are helping put CNN's credibility right up there with that of FOX's.

Signed
(Atman)

10. Here's what I wrote. BURN!
"Does the outcome of the Spanish election mean that the terrorists have won?"

Absolutely not! It shows that the people of Spain don't like being lied to and that the people of Spain understand what much of America understands. That the real threat to us and the top priority must be to capture Osama and eliminate Al Queda. Not to go off into other countries and other wars and change our focus. Al Queda was and continues to be the number one threat. Unfortunately George Bush dropped the ball. He lost focus and put most of our resources into Iraq instead of staying on the course of dismantling Al Queda. If he hadn't gone off into Iraq and instead have stayed focused on Osama and Al Queda, the attack on Spain could have been prevented and those 200 people would be alive today.

And now they say in their tapes that they are 90% ready for another American attack. This is disgraceful! If there is another attack on American soil, the blood is on George Bush's hands for not getting Osama and Al Queda like he promised he would, but instead he decided to go off into Iraq to finish what his Daddy screwed up instead of protecting us!

15. My response.
I have a question for you. If we sustained another attack such as that on the WTC and Pentagon in late October of 2004, do you think we'd turn out in droves to re-elect(?) George W. Bush, or do you think we'd have had enough of his mismanagement of the war on terror?

16. Did communism "win"
Did Communism win because we pulled out of Vietnam? We need to focus on the terrorists, this administration needs to quit the smokescreen and get to work. Course I guess in this election year they are going to serious about terrorism. I'm sure they'll now make an effort to get OBL, because Bush knows he'll be a lock if he is caught, whereas if he caught OBL too early he wouldn't be. Very frustrating that we could have this terrible administration for another 4 years. Can you imagine our economy and budget in another 4 years? He's already screwed up the economy Clinton took 8 years to fix.

21. my response
Terrorist will not stop until we hear their grievance and the whole world tries to reach a compromise and a remedy. One mans terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter. Maybe we could begin by removing the Israelis from Palestinian lands. Give them back their farms. Next we could stop killing Arabs in Iraq and next we could stop supporting the Saudis since we should not be on their land and propping us their dictatorship. Once it is seen that we are finally hearing them the people will stop supporting the terrorists and will wantt to be happy with their lives uninterrupted by US trying to plunder their natural recourses and change their leaders to suit a western agenda.

Edited on Mon Mar-15-04 09:15 AM by Walt Starr
In answer to the foolish question at hand, not only no, but the victory by the Socialists in Spain is a stunning victory against the terrorists! The voters in Spain know that fighting a phony war in Iraq is only giving strength to the cause of the terrorists and that by attacking a nation without provocation will only do more to shore up the resolve of the terrorists!

Pulling troops out of Iraq is the only way to properly fight terrorism because by going into Iraq on phony stories about WMDs, the United States and its partners have made themseleves the terrorists!

26. My e-mail....
"Does the outcome of the Spanish election mean that the terrorists have won?"

Absolutely NOT. It means that democracy is strong and thriving when a country's citizens take to the streets and protest their country's involvement in an illegal and immoral war and then throw that administration out of office in a legitimate election.
I'm only ashamed and sorry my country didn't take to the streets and and try to stop this corrupt administration that stole our election and sent our young men and women into harms way for a blood lust for oil and a personal vendetta. I salute the patriotism and courage of the Spaniards.

27. Re-electing the incompetant bastards
Would have meant that the terrorists had won. When will these people at CNN realise that al Qaeda wanted us to invade Iraq. It was a win-win scenario for them. We ignored them for over a year because we were preoccupied with Iraq, they got to get rid of Saddam, who they hated, and they got a perfect recruitment tool.

28. My reply to that stinking Turd Golem...
By ousting one of Dubya's shameful international enablers - Aznar - the people of Spain have done what they've been wanting to do since their leader was bribed and cajoled into supporting a massive fraud: the war in Iraq.

By voting out Aznar, they have not ceded ground in the war against terror. Just the opposite in fact. They have repudiated the failed Bush policies, which were built upon a foundation of lies, lies and more lies.

Being only partially human yourself, you probably can't understand the concept of NOT groveling in toad-like supplicance before a towering Power Elite. Then again, pathetic rubberheaded fucksticks that you are - CNN's own phony-tough-guy Bill O'Reilley wannabe - you have never demonstrated any particular skill at "understanding" things.

Now, you fecal-drippy Turd Golem, why don't you go drag another innocent cyclist through the streets of New York under your fucking Caddy again?

Sincerely,
J. LeBoeuf

31. Just saw them read (and one very stupid remark made by one of them)
The e-mails I've watched them read are basically scathing about Bush and his war bringing this on, etc. (not any "rally behind our great president responses). But then Soladad says to the group, "well, gee the polls before the election showed that the Socialists were winning big, right??" and they all said "yes". Now maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the predictions were a conservative win/hanging on to power. Where did this "the socialists were predicted to win anyhow come from??" Did they just tell us a lie??--and if so, did they tell it because they are getting some real nasty replies?????

How slanted and transparent of you to word your poll in such a way. Can you be anymore of a right-wing shill?! So, if….I mean when…..we vote Kerry into office in November, that means we support the terrorists? That is just disgusting. Wanting to see our troops returned home safely from a war intended to line the pockets of corporate supporters of this “president” does not mean supporting terrorists. It means we are tired of being lied to, tired of the cycle of violence, and tired of corporations masquerading as an administration outlining foreign and domestic policies. Shame on you.

36. "terrorism, slaughter and fear owned the ballot boxes in Spain"
I didnt write that, another DUer did. I am of the naive opinion that if the bombings influenced the elections, then the terrorists are controlling democracy. I am not comfortable with that, mostly because I am uncertain of it right now. So I am asking:

Can terrorism control democracy?
Conversely, can democracy control terrorism?
