3. I did - not his best showing -
especially the exchange about North Korea - I'm not trying to disagree with the substance - just his delivery...

4. I frankly don't care about his delivery
He is out of the race anyway. What I care about is that he is countering the lies of the Bush administration. I will leave reviews of his "performance" to the theater critics.

25. His delivery? What does that have to do with anything? Perhaps
what you describe as "stumbling" is known as thinking and not just slick political spew.
This kind of attitude is what gets us guys like Reagan.

6. Dean was great
He came out after Condi and totally demolished everything she had said - in his rapidfire style - which I happen to like.

And he was terrific about Kerry's getting the nom - he laughed and said - so he didn't get to be captain of the team - the voters elected John Kerry to be captain - that's the way it goes - but he said that isn't going to stop him from doing all he can to build up the strength of the team to force a change of direction.

John Kerry can't do it alone - he needs others from the team elected to offices all across the land. At least that's what I understand is the reason for his turning his focus toward encouraging people all across this land to actually RUN for office. Dean is on the team and will do what he is best at - riling up the folks and getting them to think and get up off their butts and do something about it.

It was a great morning for Dean on MTP - he was beaming - and he was dead on. Very refreshing for me too. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

9. Thanks for your synopsis
I agree completely that he was very effective (although I was very disappointed that he was not allowed take on Condi directly).

10. Why Would Condi bother with Dean...?
I can't believe you guys think this would be a possiblility!

Why would the sitting National Security Advisor bother to debate a failed presidential candidate?

11. I did not say that I thought she would want to
but the teasers for the show did imply that there would be a "debate" and there was not. Condi would not last 5 minutes in a debate with Dean, so I had no illusions that she would agree to such a debate.

13. Gee...why would Tim Russert even have
a "failed presidential candidate" on his show?

Or why would CNN be running "Inside the Dean Campaign" over and over?

Or why would hundreds of thousands of Democrats STILL support such a "failure?"

Because he's a great man, and great Democrat, and a great leader.

15. They sniff ratings, that's ALL television cares about.
If it becomes "popular" to go after bush* they'll do it with a vengence.

20. And why would Dean get ratings?
Because he speaks the truth, and he's RIGHT.

Of course, Kerry knows that better than anybody.

Are you voting for Bush, then?

14. Uhm, wouldn't that be a "failed national security advisor debating
the presidential candidate who motivated dem voters to come out of their caves and fight the junta?"

16. You are a little obvious about Condi, don't you think?
Dean demolished her, and made her arguments look foolish.

21. Condi's "arguments" were more like excuses...
Russert didn't savage her...but he didn't let her off easy...

I didn't really see the Dean segment as a rebuttal or part of a debate. I liked his line about Saddam being an irrelevant old man...

18.  Yeah Dr Rice is just great in the NSC
Edited on Sun Mar-14-04 11:40 AM by suegeo
She presided over the worst security failure on 9.11.01, and she deserves ANY of my respect as the head as the NSC?

Another total failure, brought to you by the Bush junta.

19. Disagree - it was terrific that
he was "allowed" to follow her! Much much better than a simultaneous or preceding appearance, strategically.

Good analysis of his appearance. He looks liberated.

8. Dean was very effective after Condi...
I didn't vote for Dean in the primary, but I have enormous respect for his honesty. He did fine. Although I was only listening, not watching, I heard good stuff.

When we begin focusing on delivery over content we only reinforce the "Hollywood" aspects of politics. This election showed that delivery and style is still important, but I personally want to concentrate on the cerebral.

22. This statement should leave no doubt as to Dean's goal.
SNIP...."And so now the question is: Are we going to fundamentally change the country? And I think we can. I'm going to work for fundamental change for the country. I don't get to be the captain of the team. That's not what the voters said. John Kerry gets to be the captain of the team. And the question is: Do you want to be on the team and work for change, or do you not? And I do want to be on the team and I'm going to work for change....."
