1. It won't be so bad if we get a President who isn't
in bed with the oil industry, who actively supports alternative energy sources instead of spouting platitudes about something that won't be feasible until 10 years after he's booted out of office.

BTW, I voted "before 2020".

4. Clark campaigned on it.
Wanted to enlist NASA for alternative energy research. Mabye if he gets the VP slot we'll see progress here in a few years.

5. Not sure.
I've heard many conflicting reports on whether or not we're in peak oil. Some say we are, some say we aren't, others think it's not a problem.

Who knows what to believe these days.

6. *ahem* - it's already here - -
.
.
.

Why do you think that Bu$hco and cohorts have military in or close by every nation that has any oil/gas resources . .

Heaven help Canada if they try to pull out of NAFTA where the fools in power up here have committed 60% of OUR gas to the US . .

and

Anyone check their gas/heating bills lately

or fill up their cars at the pumps ?

How many hints do we all need !!

oh right -

Gas line-ups like back in '79 in CA

yah, I was there

- more reports on some radio stations where you could buy gas than there were weather reports!

and of course . . .

the USA's WarMachine is gobbling up just a WEE bit more than it's share . .

7. Maybe we're already there
The problem is that we can't tell when we'll reach Peak Oil until we've already passed it. There aren't any handy-dandy little flares set to go off at the critical point. Instead, after a few years of finding little or no new oil reserves, and a few years of escalating prices for pumping out the oil we've got, then we'll know we're on the downslope.

9. Would life change gradually or abruptly??
What do you think the first noticable (to the general public)sign will be? (besides the obvious, higher gas/oil prices.) I mean the first sign that life as we know it is over.

Does anyone have more than an educated guess?

10. Well, we know that 90 percent of civilisation won't die.
That Life Adter the Oil Crash site talks about the situation, but it really gives no indicator that anything will be done about it, and that it will only be the End Of the World As We Know It. Nothing could be farther from the truth. There will probably be some sort of oil crisis, but we'll eventually be able to get alternative energies online.

Don't expect a massive die-off. If you think 90 percent of the world will starve and that nuclear wars will be fought, you'll be very disappointed.

11. It WILL happen. Can I say whether that'll be pre-2020? No.
But it will happen.
