Kerry VP choice
I read this morning that Tom Brokaw would be a good choice for VP for Kerry---and one that would knock the socks off of a lot of people... I thought Brokaw was a Bush lover and yet I read he associates himself with democrats....

1. Why not Brokaw?
He says he is preparing to leave the Nightly News soon so he will be free to be VEEP. He's also quite intelligent and personable. For two years, back in the 60's, I worked as alternate producer of his local newscast at NBC in Burbank, Ca. and enjoyed the experience. He is a good guy. Nationally known. As for his politics, I never saw him leaning toward the Right on a personal level but maybe at that time, I just wasn't looking for that. But Brokaw comes from a period in Broadcast Journalism when the fairness doctrine was in place and important. I think that doctrine might play a role in whatever else he does following television, political or not.

2. If nothing else, it seems...well... (needlessly) desperate.

4. Jane Fonda...
Just kidding. Saw that in an editorial cartoon.
Seriously though, the VP choice will have to be more about a winning strategy than anything else.

5. well, it would be better than another senator
We'll have enough trouble in the Senate if we lose 2 Democrats in Kerry and Edwards or the guy from Florida (not Graham...)

Man, I can't believe I'm at 1000+ posts already!
