5. Is it being aired anywhere?

It is red meat for us folks but as a general election ad it is not very good. Too many messages, not enough focus. Visually it is confusing. Money, Clinton, SCOTUS, Smirky...what is the message here? Clinton is ancient history and does little if anything for us now. Anyone who was concerned by the SCOTUS selection in 2000 has already made up their minds and unfortunately all too many people don't think the election was stolen. This ad won't convince them otherwise.

All and all not much of an ad.

I'll explain what it's about for you.

I took Bush's ad, called 'The Challenge,' which postulates that everything was horrible when he got into office, and he made it all better.

I went line by line from the transcript, and told it how it was - things were actually pretty good when he got into office, and he pretty much screwed everything up.

I replaced his lines about how everything was bad and replaced them with my lines about how everything was actually pretty good. Clinton, SCOTUS, war, deficits are all part of the narrative.

I didn't make it to be aired. It took me about an hour, and I did it because I felt like doing it, not to sell it. That's what I do.

And the explanation I just typed almost took longer than actually making the movie.

I haven't seen the bush ad and thus didn't view your bit in its proper context. As a piece created for our entertainment you have my kudos. I was looking at it as persuasive piece for use in the general election targeting swing voters. As such I don't think it would be very effective. Since that is neither its intended use nor its intended audience my admittedly off target comments have little relevance. My opinion is obviously the minority one as everyone else who has posted likes the piece. That is OK, I can live with that. Posting your work in a public forum you will garner you feedback, both good and bad.

My only suggestion for that would be to slow it down a bit, give viewers a bit more time for everything to sink in...

I'm always thrilled when musicians grok mine! What we have today is "input overload." People are so bombarded by mediocre doo-dah they can no longer identify a musical theme with an experience and a feeling.

I was just saying last night that we had to remake all of Bush's ads using his soundtrack, our pictures.

I hope you will consider making some more of these ads. And any DUers who have good ideas should offer them up!

TBTM has produced some pretty good stuff. A finalist in the MoveOn.org Bush in 30 campaign.

I look forward to seeing the next ad and the next!! :)
