Government Per Diem Rates
My mate and I work for a company that is a government contractor. This is not big bucks stuff. This is lower hourly wage work and there are many overnight and longer trips involved.

We were just notified that all government per diem rates have been cut by 25%. Now, instead of having $30 to spend on food, we can spend $$22.50. Instead of staying in a room that would cost $55 we can now try to find a room that is $41.25.

But, we can afford to build Patriot missles that don't work. Go figure.

Anyone else tied to government per diem rates?

1. I work on EPA and other govt. contracts
and I haven't heard about any reductions. Of course, my company's policy is $25 for any overnight food expenses...but you have to be gone for 24 hrs. at a minimum. As a truck driver, on my taxes, they allow me $36 / day perdiem writeoff.

2. Any confirmation?
http://policyworks.gov/org/main/mt/homepage/mtt/perdiem/perd04d.html

"If neither the city nor the county are listed on our per diem listing, it is considered a standard CONUS destination ($55.00 for lodging and $31.00 for M&IE)."
