Iraqi students want an end to chaos
By Amal Hamdan in Baghdad
Thursday 19 February 2004

Baghdad University could be any other campus in the world. Lush greenery and somber buildings, clusters of students soaking in the sun and young men cruising around with music pouring out from their car windows.

But the US tank standing guard at one of the entrance gates, makes it unlike any other university.

And almost a year after US and British planes began bombing Baghdad, the mood here is dark.

"They (occupation forces) have been here for almost a year and we haven't seen any changes. We haven't seen anything positive until now. And hatred towards them has increased," says political science student Ibtisam.
