In 1999, author J.H. Hatfield wrote Fortunate Son, which contained allegations about the past of the then presidential candidate. After the publisher recalled the book, entrepreneur Sander Hicks decided to reprint it. This film is a chronicle of Hicks' financial and legal problems as well as his professional squabbles with Hatfield. What emerges is a fascinating albeit slow-moving portrait of two scrappy individuals mired in controversy.

You think it's just a coinkiedue that a Viacom outlet is now airing a special that is HIGHLY critical and VERY timely of "President" Bushitler? Also, notice how CBS (you guessed it, another Viacom outlet) pulled that White House rubber-stamped ad on Medicare. (Those lying assholes, saying that everyone's coverage won't be affected. THE HELL IT WON'T.) and on HBO (yet ANOTHER Viacom outlet) they were running Howard Stern's Private Parts movie on Saturday, which is the ultimate F. U. to the FCC. I don't think any of this is coinkiedues. This is Viacom flipping every last middle finger they have at the White House. It's only sad that it takes their head honcho being GRILLED to get this response, and not REAL ISSUES OF SUBSTANCE, say, such as 500+ DEAD SOLDIERS IN A WAR BASED ON LIES FOR OIL CONTRACTS. Pathetic to say the least.

According to Hatfield and Sanders (the second publisher), Rove fed Hatfield the main dirt, knowing Hatfield's background. That way the cocaine/AWOL charges became associated with a discredited Hatfield and the media dropped the subject for the rest of the 2000 campaign. One month after Hatfield revealed Rove was the secret source, Hatfield was found dead in an apparent suicide.

25. Saw It...Uhhh...Sorry To Say Won't Be Saving It

Interesting to see the insides of the Hatfield saga, but it isn't something I'd invite the neighbors to watch.

My wife watched with me...she's as staunch a Democrat as i am, and I had to explain a lot of the things going on. She remembers a little of this and that, but was sold on how evil this regime was in '99 and still gets grief from me for voting for Ford in '76 (youthful indiscretion).

I was hoping it would go more into the substance of the book vs. the marekting battles it had. This is a great film for a J class but not to help push the questions the late Mr. Hatfield rose and now Helen Thomas seems to be pushing on
