Bush killed my son , says soldiers mom
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 07:10 PM by Mari333
"My son died for absolutely nothing," Lt. Dvorin's mother, Sue Niederer, declared with quiet, forceful bluntness in her Hopewell Township home on Lake Baldwin Drive Friday. Ms. Niederer blames President George W. Bush personally for her son's death.
"Seth died for President Bush's personal vendetta," she said. "Bush put us where we should never have been. We're not even in a declared war."
Ms. Niederer says the growing national controversy over the failure to find any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq proves that "we have a very big problem in this country. If the intelligence on which this war was based is as inefficient as it now appears to have been, there is something is seriously wrong here."

19. HI From Kalamazoo, Mari....
Have you heard from your son? I thought of you the other day. I ran across the most profound quote made my a relative of mine. She was a pioneer (pioneeress?) for peace in the years following WW1 & WW2. Her quote was (I'm parphrasing at the moment):

"If the government came to our homes and took away your automobiles, your cars and other creature comforts, Americans would be outraged. But they come and take away our sons to be sent away for cannon fodder and we wave them off, flags waving."

14. I agree, but who the hell are those smiling assholes behing him?
Do they have sons in Iraq? Are any of their family in harms' way? Why are they smiling at the asshole who makes a circus out of thier sport and takes advantage of the tax payer money in order to get votes?

He is corrupt and an evil man--why are they smiling and apparently approving of the evil sleeze emanating from his smell?

7. Those heartless bastards are the ones that stay at home in the easy chair.
How easy it is for them even NOW when we have proof positive that BUSH LIED about WMD to not care about the people getting killed in Iraq.

They still lie and cover up for Bush, holding on in desperation that this supreme idiot will do at least ONE good thing in his four years.
I can tell you right now,it won't happen and Bush WILL be voted out in November.

8. I agree
considering the circumstances, if you cannot agree with a grieving familiy then at least have the common decency to say nothing. But that's exactly what freepers and neocons lack - a sense of common decency.

21. I share your anger
They all ought to be ashamed of themselves. Calling the parents "anti-American," presuming to "thank" this poor family's son, as if he would not be steaming angry about her hateful, insensitive comments toward his poor, grieving mother?

We do live in a country in serious need of de-Nazification. Lord help us all.

5. Your Son Comes Home In A Box
And you and 500+ families grief the lost of a loved one under the guise that he or she died for their country. I am so sorry to state here that your loved ones died for a lie whose machinations were only to line the pockets of golf buddies who chuckle and take pride of getting away with the ultimate crime!
I have two children that are in the so called Armed Forces, and if they were to lose their lives or their limbs as a result of this evil regimes endeavors, I would take it upon myself to bring about the same unto their elitist buttock's!!!!!!
That you have my ultimate word on.

15. These families should be the voices...
For the 2004 campaign... NOBODY can ever really imagine what the loss of a child is like unless it happens and to think it was a death caused for the wrong reason is beyond pale... My dream is to have Bush at one of these town meeting debates and have one parent of a killed soldier approach him and ask why...

Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 07:34 PM by lovedems
to fight this unjust war but as a person who also feels this war is based on lies and misrepresentations.

I said that I was embarrassed by the responses and I wished the family courage to continue to speak out because there are alot of Americans who agree with what they are saying.

I am still so mad!:grr:

and that is what we will be stuck with.

Oh wait- they all thought they were being told the truth by Bush!!
They trusted him implicitly! He is indeed, they all thought, the final word on what was going down in Iraq! Yeah--and I have bridge to sell you too.

It is not their fault that the CIA gave them wrong intelligence. Oh wait==but that is what Bush said --he had the same intelligence as they!

We, the American people have been skinned down to our bones by all the politicians who are looking out for themselves be they
Democrats or Republicans.

and that includes Kerry and Clinton, Edwards also.

We have no choice but to vote for Kerry if he gets the nomination.
WE are shackled to a Kerry , it appears. He is a rich somobitch as so is his wife. All rich, all the time.

And there is nothing better in a democracy than to be forced to vote for someone who approved of the murder of tens of thousands of innocent civilians in order to get the guy that ordered the murder of tens of thousands of civilians, out of office. So funny, if it were not so sad.

There seems to be something very wrong with this whole act.

24. That's nice---Asshole
Take a sarcastic tone toward the original story posted about a grieving mother (I might add) by a mother waiting for news of her son headed to Iraq. That takes some nerve. But, hey, your chance to slam one of the candidates is more important isn't it?

You should be ashamed of yourself.

25. sorry dude, I take the needless deaths of American kids
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 09:19 PM by kenny blankenship
(and Iraqis for that matter) MUCH MORE seriously than John Kerry does --and so it seems, more seriously than many of his supporters, who know of his role in sending kids to die for the American petro-empire, but don't care.

Kerry wanted the Whitehouse, the IWR looked like a safe bet. To him the kids were "expendable."

26. I wrote a response...
but I'm afraid it may not be posted.

In essence, I wrote that those who were heartless enough to support bush and his policies, should they themselves join up, or if there were age, medical or other complications, they should send their children. I had ended with a statement that I had nothing but the utmost respect for those that stand before our flag and the Constitution to defend them. But I had hoped that those who support bush would open their eyes and see that our military is being used as corporate bullies.

Not sure if this will fly w/ the editors; but give it a shot!

29. Maybe the responses will be posted tommorrow
or not..my local paper put my letter in today, and gave me a headline, about my anger at the Bu$sh administration and their occupation of Iraq and my stepson going..but its a small town..glad I have an unlisted number after reading some of those responses.
However, another larger paper wouldnt print my letter in St Joseph. They are all republican shills.
Its a shame isnt it, when the chickenhawks wont even print the letter of a military mother because she doesnt agree with them.
Trying to protect their little KING.

30. UPDATE on this story...
when I e-mailed them yesterday, there were 15 responses, many were heartless and cruel.

Today, as of 5:20 PM CST, there have been 124 response, the vast majority of them sending their condolences to the family, and chastising those that had written what I consider heartless comments.

This shows me that the vast majority of people in this nation remain dedicated to the decency we've shown time after time as a country and a society. I am proud of these individuals, and although mine was not one that was printed,, as I read through them, I could feel the compassion these writers had, and the passion they have for getting rid of the current regime.

My heart goes out to this family, and I hope they find 'closure' quickly.

At the same time, I see the tide turning against this evil SOB in OUR WH. People are no longer afraid to speak up. The American people have not lost their sense of dignity and will oust this creature from gov't, his minions will return to the tunnels they dug to show themselves. We ARE winning!
