I get the impression that Bush* is not listening to Rove anymore
From his demeanor on the clips I saw, and words in the transcript, it appears that he is frustrated that this war thingy has not worked out the way his handlers promised him it would, that he is getting freaked about losing in November and that he is "going this damage control thing alone" without the help of Card, Rove, et al. He is appealing to his base by looking pitiful, acting out his "Pat Robertson" script, almost reminds me of Jimmy Swaggart after he was caught with a hooker in New Orleans and went on his teletaliban TV show and cried and begged for forgiveness from his flock.

This disgusting display will appeal to his base, but I think will turn off the middle as a brazen attempt to garner pity for himself.

The reasons for going to war must be self-evident. For a war to be seen as "successful" it has to be fully supported by the public and seen as an inevitable result of events which are beyond your control. There is no other way to justify the carnage and loss of treasure that a war entails.

The very fact that the Dauphin has to go on MTP to "justify", explain away and otherwise rationalize the invasion of Iraq is an admission of an enormous screw up.

I think the American public is finally noticing.

Disclaimer: I didn't watch his Imperial Majesty the Dauphin this morning, but have only read pieces of the transcript and watched clips on TV.

2. Pride goeth before the fall
I think you hit the nail on the head. He is probably dissing Rove. Rove would have known better.

3. How much you wanna bet he starts drinking again?
He couldn't even handle half of the softball questions Russert lobbed at him. I kept hoping that Timmy the Pimp would ask him a few questions about overtime, but it never happened. A good interviewer would have eaaten him for breakfast. He still falls back on trying to blame the recession on Clinton. Deficeit on the war. Anything but his policies.
