| I have a question. Why do investigations on Bush* administration |
|
lies and cover-ups take months (if not years) to be resolved? If the police worked at the pace that these clowns do, no one would ever go to jail for anything. Is it because they're incompetent and don't know anything? Is is because blocking investigators from compiling evidence and testimony is one of their best talents? Why is no one complaining about how long it takes these clowns to get their act together and get some work done? I know that the investigations are rigged because they pack them with their own henchmen and supporters, but even then, why does it take months, even years (Cheney and his energy panel crap for example) to get anything done? In the real world, if it took that long to get their work accomplished, they'd be out of a job. McCain is an idiot if he thinks that anyone believes that the results of an investigation on the intelligence that led us into war wouldn't be able to be completed until after the elections.
Maybe they should spend more time in Washington doing what they were elected to do, and less time taking trips paid for with PAC money.

These are not investigations. They are politically motivated ploys to take the heat off the Bush junta. And the Republican majority in Congress is aiding and abetting the obstruction of justice by the Bushistas who have done virtually everything possible to sweep all their crimes under the carpet. Hence, stalling is part of their modus operandi.
LOOK! Janet Jackson's bare booby! Oh, the humanity!

| 2. There will be an investigation |
|
Look at the number of democrats that came out last night what they said about the way the country is going. Tweedy is dumbfounded by the dislike the people have for bush. So are the rest of the panel. It will not take long for the repuks to figure it out. I could lose my seat if I defend the emperor. bye bye bush.

| 3. Trial By Media...Maybe |
|
Let me say that I would hope that an international tribunal is opened sometime to look into the Iraq invasion and those responsible for it's undertaking should be prosecuted. That out of the way, there's plenty to investigate in this regime and they've stonewalled and hidden for 3 years now. It's about time to start seeing where our tax dollars are going and what these "public servants" are doing on our dime.
Yes, a criminal or congressional investigation will take months and years, but as you see with the 9/11 Commission, the preliminary finding and reports have been fed to the media who then spin it. For the past 3 years, the "mainstream" media gave this regime a pass or the "benefit of the doubt" and let them have the first say on all scandals. It looks like that's coming to an end.
No matter how one feels about the political bend of the media, it's main motivation is ratings...and nothing brings those in better than a close political race and lots of scandal and controversy. The "gore-ing" of Dean is a classic example...a media creation built, one destroyed. Bunnypant's time is long overdue.
All these investigation plant seeds in people's minds. The GOOP used this endlessly on Clinton...not just the ICs on his and Hillary's tail, but the other worthless investigations bent on tainting the entire administration as corrupt. The investigations never held water, but the impression made in the media still sticks.
It'd be nice to see the tables turned...be it lies about WMD, 9/11, the Iraq invasion, corporate scandals and so on, this regime is bootie deep in the poop and it's time it starts to come out...and there are Pulitzer Prizes and fame for some young journalist or a veteran with guts to step forward now.

| 4. Inquiries are designed to cover up, not expose |
|

From Yes Prime Minister, BBC comedy of the 1980s:
Jim Hacker (Prime Minister): "I want this traced at once. It must have been someone at yesterday's meeting." Sir Humphrey (civil servant): "Well, I'll set up a leak inquiry straight away." Jim Hacker: "I don't want a leak inquiry. I want to find out who did it."
True then, and the writers said all the civil servants and politicians they talked to for background admitted it had been that way for as long as they could remember. No reason to think it's changed now.
