We need to let Washington know that letting * appoint the commission is not acceptable.Write your congressional representatives and start turning up the heat!Find your representative at: www.congress.org
I sent this one today:
I am writing you in regards to the "independent bipartisan commission" being assembled by President Bush regarding WMD(or lack thereof)in Iraq.
It is my firm belief that allowing the President to appoint this commission represents a major conflict of interest. I believe the American people would be much better served by a truly independent commission appointed by someone other than President Bush or any member of his administration.
The American people were led to believe Iraq possesed a significant arsenal of Chemical and Biological weaponry,as well as a rapidly developing nuclear weapons program that posed a major threat to the United States and its citizens. We now know that these assertions were untrue.
I understand Saddam Hussein was a ruthless dictator and hope and pray the people of Iraq will find a better way of life without him. However, the ousting of Saddam was NOT the reason we were led to a war which has,so far, cost the lives of over 500 of our brave service men and women as well as countless Iraqi civilians.
The American people deserve to have the answers to why the reasons for this war proved to be invalid. I believe this task requires a truly independent commission with no ties or loyalty to the Bush administration. Not only does the intelligence community need to be investigated, but the Bush administration needs to be put under the microscope as well.
The American people deserve no less.
Sincerely,
|
