Our soldiers are not "fighting" in Iraq...
They are policing, but they are not "fighting". That term would apply to the initial days and weeks, but now, they are moving targets.. America's sons and daughters are prey..

They are blown up by "ied"s, rpgs, mortars ...you name it..

They are a camouflaged herd.. The "lion" always has the edge.. He gets to attack when it suits him.. He won't get them all, but he always gets at least one...:(

So whe * or one of his henchmen thanks the wonderful soldiers who are fighting for our freedom, we all need to remember that they are not "fighting" for OUR freedom..

They are just trying to stay alive one more day..one more week.. one more month.. They are hoping that the lion will get someone else..just not them or their buddies...maybe someone from another unit, who they do not know..:(

1. ?????????????????
Sounds to me they are doing both. I just thank God that our credibility as a nation and the Governments Credibility has been ruined. Since that means they are not able to invade anymore countries with the support of the world or the support of the AMERICAN PEOPLE.

2. They are doing some fighting
but SoCalDem is right, they are mainly policing. Searching homes for weapons, insurgents, etc. And in some areas, trying to avoid pro-Saddam rallies, building more permanent military bases for future soldiers. And on top of that, many are doing the work of 3-4 soldiers because they are understaffed.

I get to hear about it all the time from my husband.

3. The other sad thing to me that can't be reported is that our soldiers
must be brutalizing a lot of Iraqis. Goes with the territory. When you are in an environment where you don't know who's enemy and who's not, you have to brutalize people in order to survive. And this ain't helping US Iraqi relations I guarantee you.

5. Yep its happening
Soldiers are adopting a shoot first, ask questions later attitude and I cant really say that I blame them. I know if I was there Id give em one time to follow instructions. Any sudden movements and id shoot him. Id try to injure him first but if not oh well. Every time they drop their guard for second they have to bury a buddy. It sucks but war is hell. Only more reason to see Bush gone.

7. Thanks for confirming that Manchu. The folks who keep spouting
off about how we're freeing them, etc., don't want to go here, but there it is. Hell I know we're brutalizing them because of the way we treat people HERE, much less in some hot desert in the middle of nowhere with a population that fighing back. It's a damn mess is what it is. I feel bad for our soldiers.

6. no doubt about that
especially when troops are being attacked by guerrila fighters and never know who to trust, get nervous and accidentally kill civilians. And the Iraqi citizens just hate the occupation more and more. Lose-lose.
