No...O'Reilly caught in another LIE???
Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 11:09 AM by digno dave
Apparently Roger Ailes, Chairman of FOXNEWS, disputes O'Reilly's claim that it wasn't his(O'Reilly's) idea to sue Franken.

Franken, my lunch partner, also interrogated Ailes about the cable network's notorious lawsuit against him for appropriating the Fox News slogan in his book, "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right." The publicity over the unsuccessful suit helped turn Franken's book into a huge best seller.

"Whose idea was it to sue? Was it O'Reilly's?" Franken probed, referring to Fox News' Bill O'Reilly, star of "The O'Reilly Factor," whose photograph is prominent on the cover of Franken's book.

"I can tell you that it was August, and I was on vacation," Ailes parried. "I think I said, 'Let's send this over to the legal department,' and somebody there must have thought that meant sue. That's not what it meant."

"Let me put it this way: It wasn't my idea - and it wasn't the legal department's," Ailes said. "Listen, talent always wants to sue about everything. ... It's the sort of thing that happens in August."

5. He is the worst...
Sometimes at the gym, some goon has faux news on when I get there. Unfortunately, I usually work out when his segment comes on. Listening to his babble for an hours really grates on my nerve.

BTW, been a lurker for awhile, just getting my feet wet here...

For your gym plight, dare I offer the following? (Aw, sure, I dare...)
I go to this one local bank all the time. It's where I bank and it saves gas! Anyway, for awhile, I noticed with increasing chagrin that they had switched from CNBC to Pox News on their TVs all over the bank. I eventually complained. To the teller. She directed me to the manager. Who wasn't there that day but I was given her card (so I called and left word) and on the way out, I complained to another of the desk-dwellers there. I said I was a longtime customer of the bank (hint! hint!) and I used to be a reporter (true) and I am really truly bothered by the choice of that network on the TVs there because what was pandered for news was a real insult to a former professional journalist who took her vocation seriously. Could they please go back to CNBC or CNN or something different? Nothing happened for weeks, and I stayed away for awhile from going inside. Thought it'd aggravate me. Lo and behold a few weeks ago I returned and guess what was on the TVs all over the bank? CNN. Since then, I've been back several times. CNN's still there.

Find whoever actually handles the buttons on the video system. Whichever goon has it on has to realize that a PAYING customer wants it changed. If he doesn't respond, go to his supervisor. You are a PAYING customer. You are paying to work out and stay healthy (which they obviously claim to be all about), not get your blood pressure jacked up. They need to hear this. Squeaky wheel, y'know...

And again, WELCOME!

on edit - just forgot something
