David Kay: "the intelligence community owes the president...
...rather than the president owing the American people."

Full story here:

"Kay: Lack of Iraqi WMD Requires Review"

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&u=/ap/20040125/ap_on_re_mi_ea/us_iraq_weapons_040125220261

Ending quote from the article:

"Kay hopes to draw on his experiences to write a book on weapons intelligence."

I hope that this miserable moth**f**er includes a chapter on what to say to the fathers, mothers, husbands, wives and children of the 500-and-growing list of Americans who will NEVER be coming home again and are owed nothing by the President.

1. I'd like to hear what the OSP has to say
remember that the CIA (as much as I abhor them) has nothing to do with this.

2. I heard that...what a kiss ass....Bush should be talking to the families
of the dead and wounded and begging forgiveness because of his actions.

Kay knew the weapons situation going in...he is just another lemming.

4. Kay wants us to believe Saddam's WMD are in Syria?
Edited on Sun Jan-25-04 07:08 PM by The Night Owl
"And, he said, there is ample evidence that Iraq was moving a steady stream of goods shipments to Syria, but it is difficult to determine whether the cargoes included weapons, in part because Syria has refused to cooperate in this part of the weapons investigation."

Excuse me, Mr. Kay... If Saddam believed that Syria was such a good hiding spot for his arsenal of WMD, then why the hell did he not go to Syria with the WMD? Let me guess... Saddam wanted the extra challenge of hiding in Iraq amongst 130,000 troops looking for him and he also liked the idea of spending months in a hole in the ground.

Please.

How much BS do the weird men expect us to swallow?

someone making excuses for Shrub. And he takes it as his due. Has he ever said I'm sorry for anything?

10. its the cook's fault the waiter misrepresented the menu?
the intelligence community made clear its lack of support of the bushevik's use of unverifiable wmd reports for the latter to reach their conclusions vis a vis wmd, but the busheviks used such reports as gospel.

this is the worst way to use the intelligence community, viz., the busheviks took chicken shit and tried to offer it up as chicken salad.

no wonder the customers are pointing to the cook as the culprit, but it was the waiter who said it would taste like chicken salad, not the cook.

18. Thanks mopinko...
...it's encouraging to see so many people here who are seriously questioning what's going on in the world...not just being cute and witty, but really pulling it apart, looking at all angles, spanking Google mercilessly for clues and asking "what can we do?"

Because that's how things actually get done, right?

:-)

16. I don't get this business with Kay at all
He's been a long-time Bush lackey, the guy who reliably produced mountains of "evidence" of Saddam's WMD when Poppy needed bolstering for his sagging popularity *after* the first Gulf War. He even got bounced from UNSCOM for purchasing info from any and all sleazebags willing to say what he needed to hear. So when he got his new job, there was no doubt that the outcome was fixed. Administration insiders openly talked about what was expected from Kay -- they couldn't provide a smoking gun, so instead he would dump a refridgerator-sized pile of incriminating documents on Congress and let the impressive mass justify the invasion. They called it Big Impact.

So now here he is, empty-handed and speaking against the administration's case with uncharacteristic candor. Reeeally bizarre. Somehow, I think we're being gamed, but I can't figure to what end.

19. Kay was one of the biggest loudmouths to push the Iraq invasion
denigrating anyone who questioned BushCo's rationale. He really expected to go over there and stand atop crates of WMD and be the big hero, and then to come back to lucrative subcontracts with Carlyle and Halliburton for his intense support.

Instead he finds absolutely nothing.

Now he's just a dishonest, loudmouth fool, but since he has the spotlight he's good for one thing: deflecting criticism aimed at the neocons who ginned up the lies to start this war, back again to the intelligence community that have already been made patsies twice - for the false uranium claims making it into the SotU and for Valerie Plame. He's going to kick them a third time for what he and his masters did.

I wish the intelligence community would fight back, but they're both dishonest in carrying out their duties - allowing Cheney to lie the US into a war - and cowards when it comes to setting the story straight afterwards - taking the blame with heads bowed. And they are partially culpable for everything they let happen as well, though not as much as the perpetrators. They deserve some of the blame and it's hard to feel bad for them taking more than their fair share, except that most of that extra share comes from where it should be laid: on Cheney. The CIA has proven itself again to be the disgrace to America that everyone saw they were back in the 1970's. It's hard to feel sorry for them when they let America get rolled like they have.

This is a big opportunity for Scott Ritter, who was one of Kay's main targets before the war. Ritter should come out of hiding right now and slam Kay mercilessly. He needs to vindicate himself and to shove Kay's face into the dirt relentlessly, keeping the pressure on the Bush administration where it belongs.

Please come back Scott!
