What will happen to the Neocons?
Edited on Sat Jan-24-04 07:01 PM by Cat Atomic
Let's assume Bush loses in November. What will become of the Neoconservatives?

I don't mean professionally. The leaders of their movement are all wealthy already, and I'm sure that servicing the war machine will remain very profitable- no matter who is sitting in the White House.

But ideologocally- I wonder if they could go back to doing what they were doing before, writing loony foreign policy papers, working with conservative think tanks, etc. They'd have to realize that their moment in the sun is over.

2. they'll never be gone
they'll be right back in the scum hole from whence they came, plotting to destroy the republic and take over the world. It's what the live for.

Personally, I think the admin ought to be tried for war crimes, the news agencies that acted as WH mouthpiece should have their licenses revoked, and they should be forced to apologize and be judged before the international community.

4. I agree.
Justice would be served by trying this group for war crimes. It'll never happen, of course- but still.

6. They will investigate the new
President, make big public shows about his imoral behavior, and claim victory without having to prove anything. In their spare time I'm sure they will try to find new and creative ways to infect more people with propaganda and lies.

...the 'Military-Industrial Complex'. Maybe, at some point, the USA will stop funding the Sharon Faction in Israel. Maybe we'll 'be America', finally. Or maybe it's the Kali Yuga and I should just shut up.

11. I suppose so.
But on a personal level, I wonder what they'll do. Men like Cheney or Rumsfeld have been close to power in other Republican presidencies. They've come and gone before, but they've never had as much influence as they have now. They must realize they'll never have it again. They just won't be around that long.

17. Yeah...
...I've seen photos of 'Rummy' and Dick Cheney with Gerald Ford. It is 'frightening' that crooks like that have been around so long. I think it was Francis Fitzgerald who said "Watergate was like a Greek Tragedy and Iran-Contra was like a theatre of the absurd/modernist play". Or something like that...They will be around even if not 'in power'...I don't know what the ultimate solution is...I'd like to think ABB is a start...maybe????...

10. Never be gone. Would you quit if you were one of them when
there is such a compelling reason to keep going - control and profit. The ME TOO-ME FIRST=SCREW THE LITTLE PEOPLE kids will never give up.

When the Dems win, they will just concoct Whitewaters, filegates, Paula Jones look alikes, awful shirts, big neck, Love Story lies forever. It will be no different.

These people are not from this country. They owe allegiance to their own world only - they only know "Screw you, fool believer in the U.S. Keep it up, it facilitates our agenda. We love your patriotism."

13. using the bully pulpit for a rat scourge
THe new democratic president will come together with his cabinet and make a historic speech regarding cleaning house from those who would undermine the constitution, and a reverse macarthy era would come up. These men would become outed, and openly castigated through direct executive exposure until like cockroaches, they're skurrying about trying to get out of the light... and one by one they are crushed by a public worked in to an anti-pest zeal.

The president should fire them all from the security services and their lurking positions in various illegal military - adjuncts. Likely, charges of treason can be brought against those who took us to war illegally. The PNAC can be outed, and its signatories made to pledge allegiance to the constitution on public camera.

With a similar powerful act, the new president can also end the lobbying and embedded interests crawling around the hill by declaring them outside the constitution. These interests are the living pus and blood of the neocon criminal network, so between them the president could shut them down root and branch.

For those who survive the first rat purge, the second one is simply the sound of their collective IRS audit's and exposure to the media of all their intrests in treason and against the constitution. In tax court, they can be locked up like mafioso.

There is a lot that can be done with someone like dennis kucinich in charge of the justice department. They have already committed treason against the constitution. It is just dilligence to make it stick in court.

18. I would like to see the whole lot of them facing wrongful death charges.
Or, hey, why not murder and conspiracy? There are at least 500 deaths that are on the heads, and the consciences, of the neocons. No. I take that back. No consciences. These people don't have any.

Like Newt tried to do to Clinton. Of course maybe it'll backfire in his face like it did to Newt and he'll have to resign. If he does, you're all invited to a Tom DeLay resignation party at my house.

21. Maybe I'm an optimist
I think that this is just a bad phase in American history. I think the pendulum will swing the other way. How far it swings will depend on whether bu$h is elected to a second term.

I think that if you look at the political leanings of Americans it would look like a classic bell curve...most Americans are pretty moderate. If the landscape goes too far in one direction it will swing the other way to correct it.

I think the neocons are an aberration in America. We don't normally admire invading other countries without provocation and war profiteering. I can't believe America will stand for any more politicians who want to take over the world. The next time we get a Republican in office, it will be more of a traditional conservative

25. We Have Already Seen What They Can Do
Yes...It will be the most glorious day when we kick these guys out of the Whitehouse...but they will not go out without kicking, screaming or swinging with all their might.

We have already seen what they can do this past week to Howard Dean...24/7 of Howard Dean's speech in Iowa. Unbelievable, it has shifted many Dean supporters away...the power of their press. They will not stop...and here we go again, another 8 years of their mindless, hate-filled rhetoric.

Hang in there everyone...this is my 2nd post!

Not to mention angry calls to 'cut this deficit ya damned tax and spend librul'

for the next Democratic President. Even if they should lose the WH and even one house of congress or even two, they ain't going away. Scaiffe and people like him have too much money and power to just go quietly into that good night. Our only hope is evolution and natural selection.
