Republicans try to stop MoveOn Money
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=usatoday/republicanstrytocutoffsoftmoneytoactivistgroups
Alarmed by the sudden emergence of political interest groups bent on defeating President Bush (news - web sites), Republicans are trying to limit the groups' ability to raise millions of dollars.

Basically, the Republicans are scared because groups like MoveOn are raising a lot of money and they're trying to make it illegal and put a stop to it, or at least make them be in legal limbo and unable to use their money during the election year.

1. There must be a reason
why so many are willing to cough up their hard-earned wages to defeat Bush:

1) There is a vast, evil, left-wing conspiracy bent on taking over the country; or

2) Bush is just not a very good president.

12. Money != Free Speech
Money does not equal free speech. If it did, Bill Gates would have a helluva lot more free speech than you, and I'm quite sure our rights are supposed to be equal. However, conservatives love to trot out this argument all the time, which makes it all the more ironic in their whining about Moveon.

15. Um, the Republicans believe it so, enough to sic the SCOTUS on the issue
Every time the "campaign finance reform" issue comes up, it does become "free speech".

19. No money does not = Free speech
But Repugs and conservatives think it does.

That's the problem, but at the same time with their logic they've got themselves into a catach-22 situtation with MoveON and other orginzations that accept soft-money in record amounts.

They didn't expect the "Left" or "Bush Opposition" to garner so much monetary support.

MoveOn and other orginzations have adapted quickly to the GOP money machine, and the campain finance law's.

Repugs and conservatives now are snivling hypocrites cause they thought they crushed democratic and bush opposition money making tactics with their raking in of hard-money within their own party.

6. Convinced me to make another contribution
The audacity of these fascists is unbelievable. Why don't Republicans want freedom in this country? They always roll out the flag and scream about protecting freedom when they are killing brown people. I guess they just want freedom to keep killing brown people.

What a bunch of hypocrites! They had no problem with this when people like Scaife were funding all sorts of anti-Democratic activities. They just can't stand it that we are catching up in funding!
