How many refused to watch the Fuhrer's speech?
I finally turned on the tube as he was
exiting the Reichstag.

...ranging from embarrassment to boredom to outright disgust, I passed. I knew the transcript would be available, and I just can't manage to have that man on my TV without wanting to kick that smirk off his face right through the screen. Since I'm unemployed, I can't afford to buy a new set.

He's very bad for the digestion, the blood pressure, the ability to concentrate, and the general mood.

Instead, I rely on braver DUers to watch, listen, and opine on georgie's performances - and sometimes I'll even read a transcript later on. Thanks brave DUers!

36. Know your enemy...
This is usually my attitude as well but last night I could not bring myself to watch him. I figured I would see bits and pieces on the news and anything of importance would be discussed here. I honestly did not have the stomach to watch his smirky assed face last night. And I certainly didn't feel like watching all his little cheerleader minions applaud every freaking word that came out of his hole. This administration completely disgusts me. :puke:

ailing economy. There were about ten shoppers in K-Mart, when the store used to crawl with people night and day. The lot was empty and store in a nearby strip mall were closing at 8 instead of 9 when they used to close. The store's inventories are minimal--no sales, no frills.

I'm in Chicago and even a friend remarked to me Saturday how empty the mall was when she went shopping that day. I know they media says the economy is revving up, but from what I see, we are in trouble. It is frightening. In K-Mart, the only thing I could think of was I have to save more money. It's going to get a lot worse IMHO.

I am in awe of the DUers who can, so I come here to get the highlights. I had 2 go 2 a city council meeting @ 7 2 speak in opposition of a bogus ordinance trying to outlaw the devices that hold up signs and banners....don't ask!

I cannot abide his mush mouth and his lazy lipped sloppy speech patterns. I have never yelled @ my TV screen B4 squatter. I am afraid someday I'll throw something to destroy the set.

I am thrilled and inspired by good oratory. It is a skill I admire. Sadly, there are precious few orators these days.

72. Citizens do, Imperial Subjects do not.
The Imperial Subject has one duty to his Emperor...to obey.

An Imperial Subject has one course of action: Shut yer' piehole or be punsihed.

Thought, truthfully, as the transition from what we once were towhat we are become is not yet complete, neither are these rules quite so obvious, except at the top where teh Busheviks are concentrating their Imperial Force for the moment.

I prefer to not get into watching political speeches -- as they never really "say" anything and are instead intended to make naked emotional appeals based on catchphrases and generalities.

I already know he lies about everything. I already know he has more in common with Hitler and Stalin and the British King George of 1776 than he has with the Founding Fathers, who would have hanged his Totalitarian ass.

If I want to watch Totalitarian Tyrants, I can always watch old reruns of Stalin's speeches to the slavish Duma.

65. I watched and it was a disturbing, somber epiphany
I have finally gotten so sick of Dubya that as I watched the speech I felt as though I were a foreigner watching it. I kept thinking, he is not my president. He is not talking about my country. Then I yelled at the TV some more. It was worth all 54 mins. of my life that I lost to hear the Dems applauding when he said the Patriot Act was about to expire. . . and the irritated look on Shrub's face when he heard that applause. Priceless.

I couldn't finish the Democrats' Response. Pelosi and Daschle were just too smiling and polite. After Bush's rhetoric, I wanted an angry, forceful response. Not kid gloves.

73. Whenever * appears on the screen
I cannot grab the remone fast enough -- I seriously get ill with each glimpse of him. So, no, I absolutely refused to watch even a second of that packed-with-lies, extreme-right-wing-pushing-agenda, farce of a speech. I just watched a Friends repeat and then moved on to the Food Network (Rachel Ray was making some fab-u-lous Thai Chicken Satay.....mmmmmmm!)
