Just for the heck of it
I contacted the Fire Department in Austin. The public info officer who responded (rapidly, I might add) said she would forward my note to the Fire Marshall for appropriate action. It may be that Tom Craddick could get in hot water for locking the legislators in the chamber. We can at least hope.

3. Wouldn't that be a hoot?
Apparently the Sergeant at Arms was standing guard at the locked door. Hubby said, "He could have unlocked it if something happened." I said, "Yeah, and he could have prevented it from being unlocked too, if those weer his orders." I can't wait to hear back from the Fire Marshall.

2. Clever . . . good work.
Hopefully, they won't even think of a "lockdown" if the fire department vetoes the idea.

4. Thanks!
My butt was pretty much on fire yesterday. Writing, calling, sending flowers, you name it. Since Craddick coerced a quorum, I could at least try to irritate him. I'm sure they'll have to follow up on the complaint.

5. Reply from the Fire Marshall
According to City Ordinance and the locally adopted "Uniform Fire Code" required exits shall not have additional locking devices. The main entrance to an occupancy may have an additional locking device but it must be unlocked during business hours. All other required exits will be equipped
with panic hardware only. "Locking them in" may just be a figure of
speech. State property does not fall under the jurisdiction of the Austin Fire Department and I am not familiar with exiting system of the Texas House. The State Fire Marshal has jurisdiction over state property.

***********

Next email goes to the State Fire Marshall, and I will state that "locking them in" is not figurative.

6. TGFT!
Thank God For Texas.
I think y'all are the only ones with nuttier politicians than us.
Or at least AS nutty.
Could we trade you Judge Roy Moore for just about anybody you'd like to get rid of?
