Researcher Says Children's 'Tolerance' Video Promotes Homosexuality
Oh Give Me A Break!!!!!

Researcher Says Children's 'Tolerance' Video Promotes Homosexuality
Latest Version Going Out to Public and Private Schools Nationwide

By Jim Brown and Jody Brown
January 4, 2005

(AgapePress) - A pro-family group is accusing homosexual activists of using popular children's TV characters to indoctrinate young children into their lifestyle. Specifically, the group is questioning the intention of a new children's video featuring those characters.

SpongeBob SquarePants, Barney the Dinosaur, Arthur, Dora the Explorer, JoJo, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Big Bird, Bob the Builder -- those and many others are among the characters starring in a music video remake of the 1970s song "We Are Family" that is designed to promote diversity and tolerance in the classroom. A special DVD version will be distributed to 61,000 public and private elementary schools nationwide, along with lesson plans for teachers. Distribution of the DVD is being donated by FedEx.

Ed Vitagliano, a researcher for the American Family Association, questions the motives behind the project. The problem, he says, is that it is an "open door" to a secondary discussion of homosexuality.

"When you go to the We Are Family Foundation website, there is a 'tolerance pledge' that children and others are encouraged to sign, which includes sexual orientation," he explains. That, he says, is the crux of the problem. "While we want everyone to respect other people's beliefs, we do not consider it appropriate for children's television to be used in an effort to indoctrinate children to accept homosexuality."

17. Thank your wife for me, tk2kewl!
And, if you have any info. on where we can buy a copy, please let us know.

I read agapepress.org every day - just to get a BIG LAUGH and see what the RR (Religious Right) is up to. I write about church and state issues - and this is a great site if you want to digest the daily taling points (propaganda) of the Religious Right. Best around - along with bpnews.net, IMHO.

2. How about calling themselves American Homophobic Association?!
Oh yes, God forbid we teach children to tolerate their differences!

So what they are saying is that being open to other peoples varying sexual orientation is a bad thing. Therefore, being discrimintory and closed-minded is a good thing???

I really wish these type of groups would get a clue and realize that they are not "pro familiy" but are actually "anti-different". What they are saying is that, "If you're not like us, you're bad."

Go back to the middle ages where you belong. These same type of people used to claim that blacks were inferior to whites and that women were not as good as men.

Give me a break is right!!!

3. In community after community across this land --
-- children, after having been shown the tolerance video featuring their favorite cartoon figures singing "We Are Family," were found to have gone home that day from school and drilled glory holes in their bedroom walls.

It's just shocking that certain pro-Satanist interests would use cartoon figures to so nefariously influence our nation's tender minds.

What choice did the children have, after all -- if Barney sings "We Are Family," then any child hearing it will obviously want to perform homosexual acts as soon as possible.

5. Researcher?
That implies scientific objectivity - which is the last thing to be expected of some fundie pro-family, hate-fuelled pressure group.

8. Promote?
I never get the indoctrinate or promote the lifestyle part of this recurring argument. Doesn't this mean that hate can be "promoted" too?

Funny, when I was in grade school and realized I was "different" I never clued into the idea that I had been indoctrinated by my heterosexual family.... baaaastards....all the shit i have taken over the years...it is their fault all their fault

:puke:

12. The word "tolerance" always seemed too equivocal for me...
I mean I tolerate the noise the street cleaners make when they come down my street, but it doesn't mean I like it much.

I would prefer it if somehow we could encourage kids to go beyond mere tolerance, towards something like "acceptance" or even "celebration" of lesbian, gay and bisexual intimacy.

14. Um - does the "Researcher" have any, uh, research, to back this up?
I mean, are 5 year olds who view the video more likely to become gay? Or is he just talking out of his butt?

No pun intended of course?
