Global Eye - Worm Turning

There has been much throwing about of brains on the subject of George W. Bush's further lurch to the Right since he limped over the election finish line with his tiny, 1 percent, fraud-marred majority. And to be sure, the wholesale purges he has instituted throughout his regime -- replacing a slew of merely cringing sycophants with cringing, drooling, groveling sycophants -- will indeed hasten the United States' degeneration into corpo-religious authoritarianism along the lines of Franco's Spain.

But all the earnest disquisitions about Bush's Franco-U.S. "ideology" entirely miss the point -- and increase the fog that the Regime deliberately spreads over its true interests. For the heart of this slouching beast is neither left-wing nor right-wing; it's strictly Bush-wing. Anyone even slightly acquainted with the history of the Bush dynasty knows what makes these preppy puppies run -- and it has nothing to do with conservative principles or moral values or national security or world freedom. It's not ideology, but investments -- the gobbling up of unearned, risk-free lucre on the grandest scale imaginable.

Naturally, the pursuit of this kind of piratical wealth leads to certain kinds of policies that can at times be mistaken for a political philosophy. For example, the Bush Regime's devotion to Big Oil, the military, tax cuts, corporate deregulation and unbridled executive power could be seen as the expression of a coherent, if repellent, worldview: Social Darwinism -- survival of the fittest, might makes right, winner takes all. Likewise, the Regime's embrace of religious and cultural fundamentalism resembles an ideological stance of unbending zeal and moral certitude, encompassing the whole of reality.

Perhaps if they could obtain these same privileges as easily by other, less horrific means, they would. As it is, they take the world as they find it, and go about their business without fretting over the consequences -- the dead, the ruined, the spreading hate, the poisoned planet. Why should they care? As the maggot cannot see beyond the meat, so too these men of greed-stunted understanding can see nothing of worth outside their own bottomless appetites.

2. I am awestruck!

The relevant and poingnant content aside, I have not seen such fantastically lucid writing skills and creative communication in a very long time.

That article was so well written and worded, as well as creative with words, that it should win an award.

I wish my brain worked that well these days. I am envious.

Bravo to that wordsmith!

3. True to a point, * now owes the men who own the vote machines.
They can no longer limit themselves to just looting, the shift right will be markedly christo-fascist.

Gotta pay the piper.

PS check out the annotations on this article. Incredible list!

5. Things will indeed turn
There are enough signs on the horizon of very serious economic difficulties ahead, that Bush may find himself actually having to exercise actual leadership, and economic nouse. It will be interesting to see how much of these qualities he actually possesses.

6. Edgar Cayce made a prediction about Russia
Edited on Thu Nov-25-04 07:43 PM by DELUSIONAL
that at the time I read it (mid 1970s) I though that this certainly proved that he was a false prophet. I tend to dismiss what I believed were guesses. However -- I have remembered his really far out idea that in time the US would become more like Russia. There was something about the US becoming repressive in his prediction -- this excerpt below doesn't mention the negative part of Cayce's prediction.

Two of Cayce's major predictions concerned the futures of China and the Soviet Union, the world's great Communist giants. In 1944, he prophesied that China would one day be "the cradle of Christianity as applied in the lives of men." Through Russia, he said "comes the hope of the world. Not in respect to what is sometimes termed Communism or Bolshevism -- no! But freedom -- freedom! That each man will live for his fellow man. The principle has been born there. It will take years for it to be crystallized; yet out of Russia comes again the hope of the world." Russia, he said, would be guided by friendship with the United States. Its attempt to rule "not only the economic, but the mental and spiritual life" of its people was doomed to failure.

Cayce also predicted the possibility of a third world war. He spoke of strifes arising "near the Davis Straits," and "in Libya, and in Egypt, in Ankara, and in Syria; through the straits around those areas above Australia, in the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf." When asked in June 1943 whether it would be feasible to work towards an international currency or a stabilization of international exchange levels when the war had ended, Cayce replied that it would be a long, long time before this would happen. Indeed, he said, "there may be another war over just such conditions."

7. Interesting to see the Franco comparison.
I have seen it once before, and it has it's merits.
