Whitman 'A Disaster' For EPA

Christie Todd Whitman lit up the political stage as the first woman governor of New Jersey in 1994. She had a killer smile and a lot of money, and she didn't flinch shaking hands with factory workers.

She steamrolled over two big-name Democrats, James Florio and James McGreevey, to become a two-term governor. She was term-limited out and when President George W. Bush said he wanted her to join his team as commissioner of the Environmental Protection Agency in January 2001, some of the Greenies were hopeful.

What's your verdict, I asked Pringle Tuesday.

"She has been a disaster. The only people she exerted herself for were the fossil fuel people," he said.

1. Makes sense...
Since she was an unmitigated and catagorical disaster for NJ, too. Left us in the lurch with nothing but miles and miles of "scorched earth" defecits, illegtal under the state constitution. Now, the repukes are blaming everything up to buying the nails for the cross on McGreevey. No matter he is bound by the constitution to balance the budget.

Hey, the strategy worked with Florio. Why not go back to that well?

I deeply wish that Christy, upon receiving her sheepskin in Equestrian Studies from Bryn Mawr College, would have done what her privilaged predecessors from Oldwick had done before her:

Remained content with getting snockered, in the afternoon, at The Tewkbury Inn. In doing so, she would have done far better by NJ.
