Coming Attractions: Occupy Wall St., the Documentary
'Occupy Wall Street, the protest movement that began in Lower Manhattan and quickly spread across the country and around the world, might be coming to a theater near you.

Led by a pair of filmmakers from Brooklyn, Aaron Aites and Audrey Ewell, more than 50 people from more than a dozen American cities are pooling material for a feature-length documentary. The organizers said they envisioned a film told from many perspectives, tapping into the enormous supply of on-the-scene footage from protests around the country.'

1. A bit premature, surely?
There's not enough to even get to the intermission, let alone the second act.

2. 'The amateur and professional filmmakers
who have signed onto the project have amassed more than 200 hours of material from Occupy protests in cities including Seattle, Austin, Miami, Nashville, Chicago and Boston.'

3. But the narrative!
A documentary worth watching tells a story, at least to one climax point, if not several.

Hours and hours of the same first step is neither particularly entertaining nor informative. The pepper spraying might be the first step to a story, but even that isn't complete. And as far as the goals of OWS, it isn't even part of the story line...

As a supplement to the MSM daily news break, maybe. As a documentary...let it develop and mature.
