Will We Sacrifice Democracy Upon the Altar of Monotheism?
One wonders what the tea partiers would have the tax policies King Solomon used to build his temple. I seriously doubt they would have approved of them. Yet this is precisely the sort of thing that happens under the kind of theocratic rule that some within the tea party appear to be advocating.

It personally doesn't matter to me what you believe in terms of religion, as long as you don't seek to impose those beliefs on me or anybody else. You can believe in virgin births, burning bushes, vampires, tarot cards, angels, faeries or flying spaghetti monsters. I don't really care. And I won't judge you for it. I'm open-minded enough to realize that I don't know everything, and it's entirely possible (though in some cases, perhaps, not terribly likely) that some of the things you describe do exist outside of my limited experience on this isolated planet.

But don't tell me that I have to believe it - "or else."

1. Personally, I think it's more like the altar of Mammon and I think heir to the
Avengelical throne apparent, Frank Schaeffer, agrees with me at least in concept about what I like to call ChurchCo.

The close relationship between churches and businesses, possibly mediated by means of Chambers of Commerce (who have shown a strong proclivity toward exclusively Republican politics) and sometimes referred to as Dominionism, adds a more pragmatic, though essentially evil, dimension to monotheistic fascism.
