McKinney Election GOP crossover vote may affect outcome; GA Dems
So according to good ol boy DeKalb Dem party official its ok to be a republican or encourage republican crossover, but according to him its not ok to run against an established candidate, unless of course its last time when they didn't care a new comer was running against a long time democrat incumbent. And they wonder why turn out was low in democratic districts last cycle.

OP crossover vote may affect outcome

Don Brothers, chairman of the DeKalb County Democratic Party...
"I don't think anybody can question Sen. Levetan's commitment and service to the Democratic Party," he said. "I do think there is some question about Mr. Vaughn's commitment to the party, being that he ran as recently as 2000 . . . against one of our long-standing Democrats, Doug Teper."

The Republican Party's official position is that Catherine Davis is its candidate, but {mike]Kovacich said Levetan, a two-term DeKalb CEO, "has strong support among Republicans in north DeKalb."

"I've gotten a lot of Republican money," she said recently. "My synagogue has got a lot of good Republicans. Honey, I've got a lot of people that believe in me."

"Her voting record was Republican most of the time," Thomas said of Levetan. "She was the only Democrat who voted to cap punitive damages at $250,000 in medical malpractice cases."

1. I know many sympathize with rep McKinney
and she has been mis-quoted, but much of her issues she brought against herself.

When her father indicated that the reason she lost the last election was because of the "JEWS", and she never appologized for the comment, and the disparaging way it was presented, nor did she try to build bridges, and compromize the differences, she deserves the consequences.

Yes her Dad made a dumb comment. He's not a policy advisor, and she has specifically addressed the fact that she is not anti Jewish or anti israel.

suppose you could say she should work harder, but then again will it make a difference? Take a look at some of the Jewish newspapers such as the Atlanta Jewish Times, they quote constituents as if they are just ordinary constituents/voters who practice the jewish faith, thus leading others to think they are representative.

When in fact they are members of AIPAC and other organizations that have financial interests.

Until the main stream media stops playing along, any apology for her Dad, ..... whose statement in context wasn't that bad and had truth to it relative to the fact a good deal of money and stories came from those claiming to represent the Jewish Community...... won't do much good anyway.

And who should apologize to who, how about just calling a truce? Yet some of these jewish publications are still printing stories being floated by the same conflicted sources.

3. She has repudiated her fathers comments
She didn't bring this on herself. I don't think she'll lose this time because her constituants are prepared.

4. Levetan: Republican darling in the 4th Dem primary
Liane Levetan is filling the role Denise Majette did the last time around--the Republicans' favorite Democratic candidate in the 4th Congressional District primary. Levetan, who had a long but lackluster career as a member of the DeKalb County Commission before becoming a state senator, has support among single-issue Israel backers and suburban whites in the affluent northern part of the district. Levetan's team includes Zell Miller's pollster Alan Secrest, a key player in the disinformation campaign against Cynthia McKinney in 2002.

The Repub candidate is a sure loser in November, so some of them may cross over to vote for Levetan on July 20 (reprising the strategy they used in 2002). However, the Republican primary for U.S. Senate is close, and they can vote in that race as a Republican and in the Congressional race as a Dem, so that impact should be less pronounced this time around.
