Why Is Jerry Falwell's Evangelical University Getting Filthy Rich off Your Tax Money?
How taxpayers are funding the world's biggest Christian evangelical university.

June 29, 2011 |

One might think that a private, decidedly conservative, and totally evangelical Christian University, that was founded by the late Rev. Jerry Falwell, who was openly critical of government programs, would spurn federal dollars.

Au contraire mon ami.

"I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!" - The Rev. Jerry Falwell, America Can Be Saved

This year, the 40th anniversary of Liberty University, Rev. Falwell's dream -- now being looked after by his son Jerry Jr. -- has become a reality thanks in large part to America's taxpayers. ..........(more)

1. This reminds me of Michelle Bachmann's husband . . .
He heads a "Christian Counseling" clinic that has received over $137,000 in MediCaid payments. Why do they accept Medicaid? Wouldn't that be against their "principles"? But that would mean that big buck farm subsidies that Michelle receives would have to go too. Never mind.

2. I doubt there is much we can do about this. I went to a church teachers
college and paid for it with the same grants and loans as all of the rest of the kids. However I suspect that I got a lot more than most of the kids since I was really poor and many from the came from upper middle class and wealthy homes. I wonder how many like me go to Falwell's school. I doubt that many do so how do they get the money if not from student loans and grants?

3. Fortunately, it's not MY tax money.
But I do see the point and recommend this thread.
