"Conservative-The New Cool." BWAAAHHHAHAHHA!
Nothing like a little unintentional humor on a Friday:

onenewsnow.com/Perspectives/Default.aspx?id=1350282

(Don't click! Copy and paste!)

A few drips:

"Kids: Really want to get under your obnoxiously "tolerant," Volvo-driving, MSNBC-watching folks' skin? Try this: Go to church, abstain from premarital sex, join the Young America's Foundation, attend a Tea Party rally, enroll at Liberty University, listen to Rush Limbaugh and vote Republican.

"You'll have them writhing in their Birkenstocks."

Be one of the Kool Kats, Kids! Nothing's kooler than going to church and not thinking for yourself, and also, too, not having sex! It's like, awesome! Boss! GROOVY!

3. My grandkids go to church. It is a church that leans left though. They try to get kids
to think on their own for themselves. After all that is how they stay in their faith. I have learned if you don't push them and let them see for themselves they will turn out right.

4. Most atheists like myself grew up in the church.
My mother is a preacher her self.

That's what happens to free thinking Christians.

They become atheists.

8. You didn't grow up in that guy's church, neither did I
I grew up in the inflexible, dogmatic, fire-and-brimstone Baptist tradition. The dictator at the pulpit screams out edicts, orders and insults to all, especially the children: You Are Sinners, and you're going to hell unless you return here in exactly 7 days to fill the donation plate.

And while the preacher is blathering on, every lady in the pews is either surreptitiously looking around to see who she will sleep with when her husband goes out of town next, or they're mentally judging everyone else for the clothing they wear, the jewelry (or in my family's case, lack thereof), etc.

That sounds nothing like what the poster is describing. Some people need an external rudder to keep themselves on track, that's what church is good for. I, personally, have never needed one but I don't condemn those who do. Who I condemn are the people who go to church on Sunday then swindle others the other 6 days of the week.

5. That is a rare church, indeed.

Most of the ones I'm experienced with, or attacked by on a daily basis, teach that thinkin' is of the devil.

Saw a church sign a couple weeks ago. The marquee read:
"Don't think! PRAY!"

That sums up the "modern church" for most people. Of course, not every one is like that, but enough are, and the LOUDEST ones certainly are.

I grew up going to church. In my experience, many atheists and agnostics started out going to church, but they actually read the bible. No wonder the invention of the printing press was such an "unholy" act to the church.

(edit: typos)

6. The Kool Kats?
Shit they're still spouting the same idiotic lame lines that sucked when I was in there. "C'mon kids lets have a "rap session""... "Mr. Anderson it's 1989 there hasn't been a "rap session" for about 20 years".

Maybe in another 30 or so years, if we don't get raptured to oblivion this weekend that is, it might update to early 90's slang.

7. In other words, "be a judgmental, self-righteous, smug little prick."
And get regular wedgies from the REAL cool kids.
