Obama says he's evolving on gay marriage
President Barack Obama told a group of liberal bloggers Wednesday that his views on same-sex marriage, which he has previously opposed, are evolving and that society is moving in the direction of granting marriage rights to same-sex couples.

"I have been to this point unwilling to sign on to same-sex marriage primarily because of my understandings of the traditional definitions of marriage. But I also think you’re right that attitudes evolve, including mine," Obama said in response to a question from Joe Subday of Americablog.

"I think that it is an issue that I wrestle with and think about because I have a whole host of friends who are in gay partnerships. I have staff members who are in committed, monogamous relationships, who are raising children, who are wonderful parents. And I care about them deeply," Obama continued. "And so while I’m not prepared to reverse myself here,<---snip--->

Evolution, or de-evolution since he is claimed to have previously supported gay marriage in his bid for the Illinois State Senate seat?

2. I think he will keep evolving until after the 2012 election
And if he wins reelection, he will evolve the rest of the way, and will support Marriage Equality. Just my theory...

4. He needs to address that reversal to be taken seriously
He has been for, then against, so if he is 'evolving' he needs to explain the develoution of his support. A person who can do that once can do it again.

5. Isn't that convenient.
He's evolved to the point where he can talk out of both sides of his mouth at the same time.

6. He needs
to have more gay friends.

He also needs to stop saying, "Look," all the damn time. His defensiveness is keeping him from seeing that bigotry hurts people. It doesn't take 2 years to understand that, especially when you're supposed to be pro-civil rights.
