Court rejects bid to restore drilling moratorium
MICHAEL KUNZELMAN (AP)

NEW ORLEANS A federal appeals court on Thursday rejected the federal government's effort to restore an offshore deepwater drilling moratorium, opening the door to resumed drilling in the Gulf while the legal fight continues.

A three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled soon after an afternoon hearing in a lawsuit filed by companies that oppose the drilling ban. The moratorium was struck down June 22 by U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman.

1. Time to enforce the rules we already have.
Every day an inspector should shut down an off shore rig for the slightest violation. I'd guess they could all be shut down within a month.

2.  Yes, how many drill operations have been inspected.....
the last weeks. Wasn't that part of the reason for moratorium???? To do extra inspections????? what is the result of that effort???? anything????? I do not trust Sec. of Interior. The other stated reason for moratorium was to find out "the cause of the failure". That will take longer than 6 months, maybe a year or longer.
