Great A.P. article dissects Powell's "evidence" for war.
I was very surprised to see this as the front page article in today's Kansas City Star, did anybody else get it in their paper?

It pretty much goes through all the points Powell made in his UN speech and shows how his evidence has yet to play out or was bogus in the first place.

1. Welcome to DU!
I'm also a "Missouri teacher," and I live near Joplin.

Thanks for the information on the article.

Although it certainly isn't the best of times to be a Missouri teacher. :eyes:

11. So true.
I'm having a tough time deciding what I will do with my whopping 2 percent raise.

2. Yes
It is in the print edition.

It seemed there was very little in the way of good news for bush in today's paper. One candidate (Ben Chandler) for governor is using the bush economy against his republican rival. Of course the Republican rival (Ernie Fletcher) has retaliated with a drive for 'poll watchers' in African American precincts.

4. woohoo... in LBN I am trying to keep track of where all
this story has been run. It was AP wire so many papers had the option of running it.

So far: Philly, Atlanta, Tallahassee, Tampa, and now Kansas City.

If anyone spies it elsewhere keep track.

This is the sort of story - especially since it goes further than the Niger story and it involves Powell (who most people still hold in esteem) - that will wake some folks up and out of the denial that something - beyond mere politics - has gone very, very wrong.

8. Add the great St. Pete Times in Florida and the front page of the Daytona
Beach News-Journal.

Charles J. Hanley is a Pulitzer Prize investigative journalist. This article is no doubt running all over the United States and the world.

Someone posted a link to a similar article in the Philadelphia paper down below. Is the world starting to catch on?

Hope this link comes through OK. If not, go to www.sfgate.com, click on Today's Chronicle and search for Powell. It's about five or six articles down.

7. Front Page Here in Vegas, Too
The Las Vegas Journal Review - whose editorial pages are strongly right-wing - ran this on this on page 1 (OK, as always, they showcase the big stories on page 1 with an enlarged pix and start the actual article on page 3 or 4). It was also above the fold.

In addition, I think the LVRJ's header and subhead were much stronger than the KC paper:

Powell's eloquence turns to emptiness
Smoking guns alleged in compelling speech of Feb. 5 at UN now firing blanks in Iraq

:) :) :) :)

Good stuff!

9. Page 18.......
I live in Oklahoma City and as normal, anything that depicts the Bush admistration in a negative mannner is either not in the paper or is buried so deep most people wouldn't even notice it. The only way I've been able to get honest news is by reading the internet and watching Fox News(just kidding on Fox..). I am somewhat new to DU, however, I throughly enjoy the LBN and Editorials and Article board.

Keep Up the Good Work!
