74 House DEMOCRATS send letter to FCC telling them to NOT protect network neutrality
Edited on Tue May-25-10 07:57 AM by mikesm
So after pressure from the base forced the FCC chairman Julius Genachowski to do a 180 on whether or not to reclassify broadband Internet service as a telecommunications service under Title II of the Communications Act in order to preserve the FCC's ability to enforce network neutrality, 74 House Democrats sent the FCC a letter today protesting this action!

See here on a Republican website that is thrilled with the news: http://americansforprosperity.org/052410-74-house-democrats-oppose-fccs-internet-takeover

Ok, so the fundraiser that Obama appointed to run the FCC got embarrassed by leaks in the Washington Post saying he was giving in to the incumbent telcos and cable companies and decided to embrace the President's campaign position on this issue. Now that all these Dems are mad at him for doing that, what do you think the odds are of his caving in and reversing himself (again)?

Goodbye network neutrality! Goodbye Internet! I would have expected this from the R's, but not from our own team that actively campaigned for neutrality!

8. So where's the bully pulpit I read about in school?
Why doesn't the admin call these people out? Why doesn't the admin tell them they are wrong and that they should get involved? Why doesn't the admin say that we have to bring back the fairness doctrine?

Oh yeah,...
