Barack Obama Is Being Punk'd - Albert Brooks
Okay. Time is up. Barack Obama is being punk'd.

Sarah Palin had notes written on her hand at the same moment that she was making fun of Obama for using a teleprompter. One of the radio "hosts" who makes fun of the teleprompter daily said that Palin's notes on her hand were "endearing." The "host" also blamed Obama for televising his day with the Republican leadership, saying that if he was serious, he would have done it in private. This was after a solid month of daily beatings for not making the health care negotiations public.

The Democratic Party can now be assured forever that nothing, nothing, nothing they will do will stop the insanity. Or Sean Insanity, whatever you want to call it. If they are hoping for good publicity from the majority media, (yes, I'm sorry Fox, but you are now the highest rated news network) forget it. Writing on the hand is okay, teleprompter is not. Opening up health care is okay, opening up the meeting with Republicans is not. It would not surprise me if Ashton Kutcher popped out of the West Wing and told Obama that he has been punk'd.

The swift boat ad that killed John Kerry was not an aberration, it was just the beginning. They took a man who actually served in Vietnam and made him a coward compared to a man who didn't. And people bought it. Now it's everywhere. Right is wrong, wrong is right, crazy is normal, good is bad, hot is cold. I am not sure what the anti-Christ's plan is, but I can't imagine this is not part of it.

1. Yep. Reason and logic don't work with this crap.
I posted something quite similar a few days ago:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=433&topic_id=173703&mesg_id=174347

Their tactic is to accuse their opponent of what they do, and crucify them for it.

2. this is EXACTLY why I'm not hoping that Sarah Palin gets on the repub ticket...
...in 2012. The rat bastards who package cigarettes in kid-attractive designs and figure out how to separate retirees from their pensions for worthless junk will manage to make Palin look "appealingly regular" and "wholesomely homespun." She won't bother debating policy and all, because really, you know, it's about "values," and who can see more values from their front porch than Sarah Palin, huh? Then they'll tell the lunatics that God sent her to save them from satanic liberals, and they'll sweep her into office in a landslide that just barely beats her bid for sainthood.

Mark my words, Sarah Palin will be the new Reagan if the republican king makers do this right.

4. Palin is much worse than Reagan
Edited on Tue Feb-09-10 08:36 PM by grassfed
Reagan disappointed the neocons when he negotiated a nuclear treaty with Gorbachev. Palin would drop "usable" Nukes in her first year.

5. They did it to FDR too
This has gotten worse, but it's certainly not new and most certainly didn't start with John Kerry.

The sad part is that half our party help them by writing stupid shit like Obama is being punk'd instead of consistently taking it to the right which is how they manage to be successful with their smear campaigns in the first place.

6. You can't talk to those people... period.
But Obama has to reverse the "Thank you sir may I have another" masochism. It's pathetic and embarrassing.

7. He isn't talking to them, he's exposing them
Obama is doing what the stupid mother fucker in your OP can't figure out how to do. You don't get anywhere by screaming and acting as maniacal as they are. You expose their ignorance and keep moving forward, that's the only way to get around it.

8. you're misreading the OP - it's not a shrill, self-defeating rant
It's just his take on the state of affairs, and rather mildly expressed by a well known writer.

14. Peggy Noonan is a well known writer too
So what.

They both think attacking Democrats is an effective political strategy. And that is a sad state of affairs.

10. There's another way to show them up without being a screaming maniac as you insinuate,
sandnsea. It's called "calling a spade a spade". President Obama is the master of the delicate deflection, or making a cutting remark camouflaged in a nicety. That approach does not work with most people. They don't get the subtlety like you and some others do.

Not standing up to these people and saying point-blank "You are lying and here's the proof" will only make you look like you are a coward or a wienie. Exposing their ignorance doesn't work if it's done with subtlety in our TeeVee world.

11. "That's not the truth"
"and you know it's not the truth".

That really isn't clear enough for you? The Republicans are so terrified they're trying to figure out how to get out of any more televised events, and you think most people don't get what happened??

Some people have sat on this board and done nothing but attack Democrats since they day they showed up and they're never going to do anything different.

12. At ONE event. If I remember correctly it was the Question Time with the GOP. That was a
good start but it's far too little too late at this point. The President is more worried about trying to get the Republicans to get on board than he is in educating the public as to how bad they really are and why.

Repetition makes for good memory. I'd love to hear that phrase become his mantra.

13. He's done it all year
He's the one that called out the death panel crap and put an end to almost instantly. He's the one that challenged the government takeover nonsense, several times last year. He repeatedly kept the public option going by including it in his speeches and clarifying what it meant and its purpose. I get the feeling if he doesn't spoon feed your personal agenda into your mouth, you'll never understand anything he does.

15. Maybe I'm just not as smart as you so I don't see all this "standing up" stuff he's doing.
Next time I need to form an opinion, I'll give you a holler.

9. Is Albert Brooks a Democrat? Super Dave Osborn,
Albert's brother (aka Bob Einstein), was a big Bush supporter.
