This is just so wrong on so many levels, a true injustice

Its wrong because the guy that invented this chair should be rewarded, not given a DWI.
Its wrong because the govt seized this guys' invention... Its wrong on soooo many levels.
Its wrong because I couldn't figure out where the heck to post this, but hey this is "Editorials and Other Articles" and I think a true injustice has been done - to the former owner of this chair so where else to post it?

Police try again to sell motorized DWI chair

Item had to be reposted on eBay because it’s not a La-Z-Boy as was stated

PROCTOR, Minn. - Police in Minnesota have had to start over again an online auction for a motorized easy chair used by a man who pleaded guilty to driving it drunk.

The Proctor Police Department had to repost the chair after eBay notified the department that it was not a La-Z-Boy brand as stated. It has been reposted as the "DWI Chair," which restarted a three-day auction.

Police Chief Walter Wobig is worried that the city of 3,000 will lose a big chunk of revenue, though. The first time, the department received bids topping $43,000 after the chair's story circulated. But by early evening Tuesday, bids were up to just $6,800.

The recliner, powered by a lawn mower engine, comes equipped with a stereo, a cup holder and lights. Its former owner had pleaded guilty to operating it while intoxicated

I kid you not. You can get a DUI for riding a bicycle. That night I wished I had indeed taken a ride home with my drunk friend, who drove his Volvo until a cop advised him he should walk home from the sidewalk where he parked it.

not surprised they are selling the chair probuably siezed it through the court.

to the first guy to attach a engine/motor to his favorite ass-support, and drunk driving is a moronic and irresponsible thing to do in any circumstances other than video gaming. If you do it in a car it's reprehensible, but if it's a funny chair it's heroic???

The cops would not have bothered to sieze a $50 Craigslist ridin' mower (which is what's under the old armchair) - but this thing has some notoriety, so they sieze it and sell it. Good thing he did'nt have substanital cash on him, He'd been declared a drug kingpin, and they'd have stolen that (He'd have to post a bond - 10% IIRC - to fight the forfieture).
Even a full-blown DWI is a huge overreaction, IMHO. On a par with mowing your own lawn drunk, a popular suburban pastime.
