Tom Brazaitis (CPD): Bush couldn't survive one round of 'American Idol'
If you tuned in expecting to see "American Idol" last Tuesday and wound up instead watching President George W. Bush's nationally televised news conference, you probably were left with more questions than answers.

That certainly was true for the reporters in the East Room of the White House, who tried, mostly unsuccessfully, to get straight answers from the president.

If Simon Cowell, the irascible judge on "American Idol," had a crack at Bush's performance, he might have told the president what he told one hapless singer: "That was extraordinary - unfortunately, extraordinarily bad."

Even the kinder, gentler Idol judges, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, would have a hard time finding something positive to say about Bush's rare prime-time appearance before the media.

1. Are you sure?
After witnessing his song and dance routine, maybe he COULD win American Idol?

2. Brazaitis was probably watching the Jimmy Kimmel show that night
They showed parts of the press conference and then had a spoof of the "Idol" jury rating it - it was just shown on "this Week" when George shows the weekly funnies. It was a pretty funny segment. Just wait until the Daily Show gets up and running again this week.

3. Dubya would be another "William Hung."

Everyone watches in shocked amazement, flabbergasted that this loser ever thought he had even the minimal amount of talent necessary to enter the contest in the first place.

4. Yeah, but he would breeze to
the finals for the "American Idiot" competition.
