President Obama to meet with South Korea President Lee Myung-bak
Excerpt:

South Korea's President Lee Myung-bak is on his way to the United States for a meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama. See slideshow below.

The two presidents are expected to reaffirm the strong alliance between the United States and South Korea. They will also discuss ways to promote green growth. The most pressing issue of the talks between President Obama and President Lee will be how best to deter nuclear proliferation by South Korea's neighbors to the north, North Korea.

The meeting between President Obama and President Lee will concentrate on the growing problem North Korea is causing not only in the region but in the world. Negotiations with North Korea are tenuous at best and there is growing concern for Euna Lee and Laura Ling, reporters for Current TV. Both were recently sentenced to 12 years of hard labor in North Korea.

The United States will be working with China, Russia, Japan and South Korea to implement regional security. South Korea is a strong ally of the United States and the meeting between President Obama and President Lee will help strengthen and reaffirm ties between the two nations. Meanwhile, defectors from North Korea, along with South Koreans have been protesting the nuclear tests undertaken by North Korea under North Korea's leader Kimg Jon Il (see slideshow). A smaller number of South Koreans are protesting South Korean's President Lee's visit to the United States. They are opposed to forging a strong alliance with the U.S. and the dispatch of troops to Afghanistan (see last photo of slideshow).
