Orders given that Bush's feet are not to come in contact with dirt
Money in his coffers, but no dirt on his shoes
Jimmy Breslin
March 11, 2004

For days now, the job at Eisenhower Park in Nassau County has been to follow the order from the White House through the Secret Service and down to the park workers:

"The president's feet are not to touch the dirt."

So all yesterday, large crews drawn from all county parks worked to ensure that, as always in his life, George Bush's feet do not touch the ground when he appears in the big park today.

when I read the article. The supposedly straight talking, regular guy he wants us to believe he is, can't walk on dirt. What he can do, though, is to send your stepson, and thousands of other loved ones to fight and die in Iraq without adequate protection, proper equipment, or even enough food.

My loathing of him and his gang of thugs knows no bounds.

32. My first question when I read this on a GD thread.
Remember the concerns in 02 midterms of local communities having to ante up the increased security costs for trips from Cheney? Well now we are talking about even MORE costs that are likely to go to the community. Security costs are real - less to quibble about except who pays if it is ostensibly a campaign visit. But this - purely cosmetic and superflous - tax payers should NOT have to pay to prevent bush from tripping and looking like an oaf.

This sounds more like something I would expect to read about an imperial leader who over the years grows more and more quirky and whose demands based on a sense of divine right grow more and more ridiculous (you refer to the same image conjoured up for me... which African leader had to be carried to events on the backs of supporters in a special 'royal' coach of sorts? this story makes me think of the early indicators/precursors of such behavior - like early onset)

48. They have Lost It Big Time

If this election wasn't so serious we would be LOL every second.

The little Emperor has no clothes!
He doesn't even have a change of shoes that he could wear in the dirt and take off when he puts on his Amani suit and high class shoes for the fun raiser.

I say we take up a collection for some scum bag tennies and send them to his office. Better yet, I hope protesters at the Fund Raiser entrance(if they can come with a mile of the party) throw some shoes all over the road near the motorcade.

Why isn't THIS on TV?

35. Interesting contrast with Kerry
W promotes himself as a "cowboy" on his ranch in Texas (which is a pig farm he bought shortly before the 2000 election). W goes to cattle shows and NASCAR events to prove his manhood, but he won't let his feet touch the dirt?

How wacked is that?

Compare and contrast with photos of Kerry windsurfing, driving a motorcycle, and making a goal in ice hockey. Oh yeah. And serving as a soldier in Vietnam.

73. The ranch stuff is all an act
to convince the poor people in the red states that he is a regular guy. The ranch is just a piece of land with a house on it. He will never do any real farming there. That would involve getting his royal hands dirty. If any real work gets done there, he has a ranch manager to handle it so that makes the place more of a plantation.

55. Maybe his handlers are afraid of Hoodoo foot-track curses

"One of the distinguishing characteristics of African-derived spells in African-American hoodoo is the wide-spread belief in "foot-track magic," a form of evil work in which a magical poison enters the victim through his or her feet, causing an unnatural illness.

Many victims of foot-track magic complain of persistent bad luck that lasts for years, of mental disturbances such as "a wandering mind," or of the inability to gain and control money or love. A significant number also describe their affliction as being accompanied by swollen or painful legs and feet, a staggering gait, or being forced to crawl instead of walk."

That would be nice to see, wouldn't it?

trying to act like a regular guy while running for office, went into a store (with a gaggle of news guys, cameras, etc) and bought a pair of gym socks -- (like this guy EVER shops himself..) --

he was totally fascinated by the scanner that the socks were passed over.. he'd never SEEN ONE..

it was a dead giveaway to the public that this guy was out of touch with normal americans who stand in line all day, etc..

hence the Scanner Moment :)

63. It would be nice
If the people that work for a living in the area be allowed
free access to go home. But alas we working stiffs are frozen
in here.

PS the park has a pond that once had a huge number of ducks.
Wonder whats on the menu tonight?

All the stink that was made from Bill Clinton's and John Kerry's haircuts should become moot now.

67. Bush cringed...
...when Cheney advised him to "get his feet wet" on foreign policy.

BTW, I heard there were some 150 protesters at Eisenhower Public Park, although kept at a considerable distance from the ceremony. Some FReepers counter-protested, too.

cleaning his glasses on one of DAve's staffer's skirts.

Is that true?

And Bush casually reached out and wiped his glasses on it.

Apologies to the real ranch owners. His fraudulency doesn't like getting dust on his cowboy boots, no doubt.

dirt. But I'm against capital punishment -- even for war criminals who start a war of aggression -- which, under international law is "the supreme crime". Life in prison in the Hague (after a proper trial with all the rights Bu$h denies to the prisoners at Gitmo) is the proper punishment.

Not that Bu$h will ever receive any punishment whatsoever for his crimes... The rich and the ruling class are truly above the law.
