Neglecting Indiana could cost McCain
Neglecting Indiana could cost McCain
Posted: October 10, 2008Read Comments(4)Recommend E-mail Print Share Del.icio.us Digg Reddit Yahoo Google A A Early Thursday, an anchor on CNN asked this question about Sen. Barack Obama.

"Why is he in Indiana?"

I have a better question: Why isn't Sen. John McCain here?

That question was everywhere Wednesday, as a crowd of thousands sat in a drizzle and chill at the State Fairgrounds to cheer Obama's latest appearance. And while it would be easy to dismiss the event as an exercise in rallying faithful who already were going to vote for the Democratic nominee, it provided more evidence of the massive get-out-the-vote effort Obama's campaign has orchestrated.

Workers collected forms with the phone numbers and e-mail addresses of supporters, which the campaign will use to recruit volunteers and make sure people actually vote. This follows a voter registration drive Democrats say was perhaps the most aggressive ever. Aside from that, the rally gave Obama a chance to speak to thousands of Hoosiers as Election Day approaches.

"What these things provide is the enthusiasm," Indiana Democratic Party Chairman Dan Parker said. "There is a huge enthusiasm gap between Republicans and Democrats."

1. Indiana, Nevada, Pennsylvania, etc. Too bad the GOP is
anti-cloning. They need another 4 or 5 McCains to cover their close battlegrounds that they thought were theirs to begin with.

2. Obama was here because he's whipping McCain where it "should" be close
He's working on making this an out-and-out rout.
