... Back in February, as The Washington Monthly noted on its blog Wednesday, John McCain made it clear that he would not stand for the kind of personal attacks that had come to characterize politics in recent years.
The Arizona senator, who had just wrapped up the Republican nomination for president, expressed anger over personal attacks on both Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who were then still locked in a battle for the Democratic nomination, made by a conservative Cincinnati radio host who had been hired to warm up the crowd at a McCain campaign event.
”I absolutely repudiate such comments, and again I will take responsibility it will never happen again,” he said at the time (CNN.com). “It will never happen again.”
Apparently, never has a different meaning in John McCain’s world than it does for most everyone else ...
