We all know about the way Bush's hundreds of signing statements has subverted Congressional intent in the law-making process. We all know how the Bush administration's Executive Privilege argument has been successfully used, at least so far, to circumvent subpoenas of White House and DoJ staff in the Congressional investigation of the firings of nine U.S. Atorneys. We all know about those emails related to the firings that have turned up missing - both from White House servers and from illegal private accounts that were used to conduct government business. And we all know how the White house has forbid DoJ to cooperate with Congress in regard to those subpoenas.
As if all this wasn't enough to raise serious questions about the United States being a nation of laws where no one is above the law, we now have the spectacle of Sarah Palin's Troopergate - a governor who once welcomed her Legislature's ethics investigation into whether or not she pressured her Public Safety Commissioner to fire her former brother-in-law but, who, under the tutelage of the McCain Campaign legal team, is now applying Bush's dodges in Alaska!
We have the Alaska Attorney General ruling that Sarah's staff need not honor the Legislature's subpoenas - even the 'first dude' has elected to ride the coattails of that ruling - and they've filed suit seeking judicial sanction. There are missing emails and private accounts being illegally used to conduct state business. And we have a lawsuit by 6 Republican legislators to halt the investigation - even though these elected officials are not members of the legislative committee which duly authorized the investigation.
On Friday, an Alaska Superior Court tossed out the lawmaker's suit and the action filed by Sarah's staff. In the former, the court ruled that the Legislature has the ability to investigate the circumstances surrounding the firing of any public officer the lawmakers had confirmed.

"Well, doggone it- if Sarah has nothing to hide, why's she trying so hard to suppress the investigation? And, darn it - don't her actions to date indicate she and McCain just want to continue Bush's Republican-style Justice once they're elected?"
Golly - whaddya think? Wink-Wink
