No Dice McCain, My Vagina's Not Voting for Palin

by Kim Mance, writer & co-editor of Galavanting

Really? Palin is a surprise pick? When the Obama camp announced Biden, it became obvious the only thing for the Republicans to do now was pick a woman running mate. It would of course also have to be a woman who wouldn’t trail far from the party line, a sidekick, not someone well-known.

I’ve gotta say that as a feminist and former Hillary-supporter, I had a big twinge of jealousy to have the Republicans be the ones to represent both sides of humanity on their ticket. But I was quick to remind myself that Palin is the portrait of right wing hackery. It is yet another way John McCain is completely out of touch, in not realizing women aren’t manipulated so easily.

And with Palin comes an added challenge for the McCain campaign: finding something of substance to argue about. Now that they’ve given the number two spot to someone with even less experience than Obama, they’ll either have to pull those frivolous attack ads, or be laughed off the air.

6. An inconvenient polar bear by Sarah Palin
Bearing Up

By SARAH PALIN Published: January 5, 2008

This month, the secretary of the interior is expected to rule on whether polar bears should be listed under the Endangered Species Act. I strongly believe that adding them to the list is the wrong move at this time. My decision is based on a comprehensive review by state wildlife officials of scientific information from a broad range of climate, ice and polar bear experts.

snip ...

The Center for Biological Diversity, which petitioned for the polar bear to be protected, wants the listing to force the government to either stop or severely limit any public or private action that produces, or even allows, the production of greenhouse gases. But the Endangered Species Act is not the correct tool to address climate change — the act itself actually prohibits any consideration of broader issues.

Such limits should be adopted through an open process in which environmental issues are weighed against economic and social needs, and where scientists debate and present information that policy makers need to make the best decisions.

Americans should become involved in the issue of climate change by offering suggestions for constructive action to their state governments. But listing the polar bear as threatened is the wrong way to get to the right answer.

5. I felt the same way
but Patriarchal Barbie does not represent me, or any woman I know and care about.

it was plain silly and misinformed of her to take credit for breaking a glass ceiling. I wanted to say, " a female VP has been done before, you misinformed new to the game clueless wanna be sportscaster runner up beauty queen. Please educate yourself so that you KNOW more than I do about a job I would never consider doing!"

she isn't a woman, and we all know this. her policies are those of the patriarchy, and she falls in step with them at every call. Just ask her husband who apparently she cc's on important emails and who sits in on her meetings.

She is no Hillary.

SHE would have given the neocons a credible ticket ... instead of this dog and pony show ... how many experienced women Republicans will shake their head and walk away? ... most of them ... this is a dangerously stupid pick with no thought to national security issues ... what a "maverick" ... :sarcasm:

10. Given her "they'll do well" statements...
About both Obama and Biden, either she'll vote for Obama, or stay home. She's NOT voting for McCain. Why should she bother?
