Arab education 'falling behind' (BBC)
By Dale Gavlak
BBC News, Amman

The World Bank has said the quality of education in the Arab world is falling behind other regions and needs urgent reform if it is to tackle unemployment.

In a report, bank officials said Arab states had to make improving education their top priority, because it went hand-in-hand with economic development.

The region had not seen the increasing literacy and school enrolment witnessed in Asia and Latin America, they said.

Djibouti, Yemen, Iraq and Morocco were ranked the worst educational reformers.

'Youthful region'

In its report, the World Bank issued a stark warning about the need for better education in the Arab world.

Iraq is not up to snuff on educational reform? Gee, I wonder what excuse they have to offer for that!

1. Arab education...
has been falling behind for the last 1400 years.... in a region that before Islam was known for engineering and as the place that was the origin of Algebra.

2. If they would throw the koran in the trash where it belongs
and if the so-called christian world would throw away that disgusting bible, and if Israel got rid of those torahs, maybe the world could get on a level playing field of teaching reality instead of myths about imaginary sky people.

That would be a world I would like to see, but is probably a century or two away if we don't find a way to extinct ourselves first.
