Could Musharraf’s Actions Be a Dry Run for Bushco?
Could the events in Pakistan be a testing ground for what Bushco might be planning in the US to avoid the consequences of fair and democratic elections here in 2008?

3. It's been discussed on Randi's show too
A good satire piece by Borowitz (I don't always like him, but this is good)
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/andy-borowitz/bush-gives-musharraf-tips_b_71042.html
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Mr. Bush said that while he commended General Musharraf's impulse to eliminate democratic institutions, he felt that the military strongman was going about it the wrong way: "When you're getting rid of democracy, the last thing you want to do is tell people you're doing it."

He also criticized the Pakistani dictator's firing of the chief justice of the Supreme Court: "Trust me, if you're going to get rid of elections, a Supreme Court could come in handy."

4. no
because Musharraf is a dictator who came to power in a military coup. They have no real long term history of democracy in Pakistan. Unfortunately their post-colonial history is rife with military coups, dictatorship.

It is a completely different situation there than it is here.

7. Bush** and Co. are getting away with everything they try; Congress cannot
stop them and the Supreme Court is a republican majority. It is not a stretch to think it can easily happen here.
