Bush: 'I've got God's shoulder to cry on, and I cry a lot'
Last updated at 11:50am on 3rd September 2007

When US President George Bush feels depressed about the death toll in Iraq, he claims to have support in very high places.

"I've got God's shoulder to cry on, and I cry a lot," he said in an interview.

The president has revealed his plans for a quiet life when he leaves office - visits to the ranch and the occasional speech.

2. Ok, then God.... time to slap down this "cry baby..."
I respect people who are religious and find comfort in their faith, but for the life of me, I can not understand how anyone could perceive this man as anything but a fraud.

quite frankly, this administration has convinced me there is no deity--because no deity would tolerate the things being done in its name.

10. And while he is crying on God's shoulder, he hears God telling him
"It's ok georgie. This is exactly what I wanted you to do. You're my favorite."

19. exactly. The words he "hears" are the echo chamber between his own ears
He reminds me a lot of the insane priest Vorbis, in Terry Pratchett's book "Small Gods" -- who orders all manner of atrocities because he thinks his god is telling him to do this. In reality, his god is trying to get him to stop!

13. Bush should pick up the bible and read it!
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." — Jesus (c. 5 B.C. - A.D. 32 ) in the Gospels, Matthew 7:12, Matthew 22:39, Luke 6:31, Luke 10:27

Here are more from different religions and cultures,

"Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the lord." — Torah Leviticus 19:18
"What you do not wish upon yourself, extend not to others." — Confucius
"None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself." — Muhammad

Not tit for tat

The ethic of reciprocity should not be confused with tit for tat, revenge, an eye for an eye or retributive justice. (This would be "Do to others as they did to you"). Mahatma Gandhi famously said, "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind".

Richardson: Keeping Iowa first is God's will
By JASON CLAYWORTH

September 3, 2007

“Iowa, for good reason, for constitutional reasons, for reasons related to the Lord should be the first caucus and primary,” Richardson,
New Mexico’s governor said at the Northwest Iowa Labor Council Picnic. “And I want you to know who was the first candidate to sign a pledge
not to campaign anywhere if they got ahead of Iowa. It was Bill Richardson.”
