WRECKING GOVERNMENT ONE OF GOP'S GOALS - letter to the editor - Herald Leader
Many Republicans have been shocked by the undeniable disaster of GOP rule. They act perplexed by their party's many scandals, the failure to capture Osama bin Laden, the abandonment of an American city to destruction and losing a war -- all in such a brief period of time.
However, the answer is clear: the Republican Party hates U.S. government.
I am not saying that Republicans hate America. But when is the last time you heard a regular Republican actually praise our government institutions?
Republicans have said publicly that they want to eliminate many of the agencies that keep Americans safe. They continually whine about the investment of taxes to build and defend our nation. The news reports daily on examples of Republican's contempt for our justice system.
Republicans in government are a revolutionary force, using our government to their own advantage when they can and wrecking it when it does not serve their goals.
Republicans have put their anti-government philosophy to work in many ways. They de-funded agencies like the Federal Emergency Management Agency, blocked benefits for our soldiers and promoted corporate welfare while simultaneously working to remove longstanding protections for average Americans.
Republicans have been incapable of success simply because they detest the very thing they were elected to manage, and the results are indisputable.
From the state to the federal level, we have seen what Republican misrule looks like, and the byproduct scandals exemplify their disdain for the common good.
It's obvious if you're willing to face truth.
