Dowd: The Doctor Is Out
Edited on Thu Jan-15-04 05:32 AM by La_Serpiente
The Doctor Is Out

DES MOINES — Not satisfied with colonizing the Moon, scouting for Martians and civilizing Iraq, President Bush is lavishing more gazillions on another audaciously quixotic plan.

He wants to become the national yenta.

As Robert Pear and David Kirkpatrick wrote in The Times, administration officials are planning an extensive election-year initiative to please conservatives in a swivet over gay marriage; their social engineering scheme will try to shore up traditional marriage, offering training to couples in the interpersonal skills needed to achieve and sustain "healthy marriages."

Before Mr. Bush ventures into the inner cities to practice his conjugal noblesse oblige, perhaps he should beeline to a more rural spot — a split-level ranch house with green shag carpeting and Grateful Dead albums in Burlington, Vt.

On Edit: Why does Dowd write editorials on Clark's sweaters and the personal life of Dr. Dean's wife? What the hell is her motivation?

for example:

In worn jeans and old sneakers, the shy and retiring Dr. Judith Steinberg Dean looked like a crunchy Vermont hippie, blithely uncoiffed, unadorned, unstyled and unconcerned about not being at her husband's side — the anti-Laura. You could easily imagine the din of Rush Limbaugh and Co. demonizing her as a counterculture fem-lib role model for the blue states.

I have no qualm about Dr. Steinberg not being in the primary. She doesn't have to be. I wouldn't want to throw politics at Dr. Steinberg if she doesn't even engage in it herself.

2. That op-ed is baloney.
Dowd is saying, don't vote for Howard Dean because he's a hippie! And his wife is a hippie, too!

One could engage in the same idiotic demagoguery towards Dowd like don't listen to Maureen Dowd because she is part of the NY media elite.

6. Why Safire?
Why would you want more of that delusional fool who spent endless columns breathlessly telling us how Hillary was about to be arrested any second.

4. If people who read the New York Times should take their freak show
back to Vermont, what about the people who write for the New York Times?

5. Dear Whoreen:
My latest letter to that idiot:

Dearie:

Bob Somerby must be right. You cannot be a real person, you must be a degenerated descendent of Rhoda the Robot from My Living Doll, minus Dr Bob Cummings, who civilized it!

Let's take stock at who you have alienated so far this year O Heartless Heifer...

1) You insult gays and lesbians in your first "installment". Based on your hatred of homosexuals, it is more of an "OUTstallment"...

2) You fail to comprehend Paul Krugman's advice about the clothes. Now, maybe Paul should have dumbed his column down to your level, but that would require him to replace 90% of his words with Dick and Jane pictures (you know, the stuff that takes you several weeks to comprehend by your chitinous cerebrum). You further compound your hoary homage to Mr Blackwell by taking shots at how Wesley Clark dresses. Dearie, unlike you, General Clark has something called good taste. I doubt severely he would dress as your hero, President Sock In a Jockstrap Bush. Dearie, leave the fashion criticism to Mr. Blackwell. You're too much of an ass to attack a man of class!

3) Now, you latest lobotomized litany decides to focus in on Governor Dean's Wife. You attack her for failing to do the Hillary thing (I know how jealous you are of a REAL WOMAN, dearie). You castigate her for not giving up her medical practice. Dearie, I am sure she has read the dreary dog turds that masquerade as your "columns" and she sees how you lie any lie about the Clintons and Al Gore. She knows that you get off on destroying people. Nobody in their right mind would want to see their lives ruined by such a muddled, murky, meddling, manipulating, manic murderer of the English tongue as you. I applaud Mrs Dean for staying where she is and continuing her successful medical practice.

Let me remind you that MR Dean is running for President and MRS Dean isn't. What MRS Dean does is NONE of your business! You ought to keep your noxious nose out of other people's lives. Haven't you ruined enough lives already? My nephew is one of those lives you ruined. He lies in a bed at Walter Reed. He's 23 and a quadraplegic thanks to an Iraqui bullet. Al Gore wold NOT have sent him there, but the liar you helped into the White House DID! I will NEVER forgive you or your fellow Pimping Presstitutes for what you did to install the most incompetent ASSHOLE into the American Presidency.

Please do us a favor! Quit the New York Times and get a job when you can really use your talents--as a Wal Mart Greeter! That way, I'll always have an incentive to shop at Costco, where real people work!

Entirely true. Al Gore would not have sent him there, because Al Gore and Howard Dean believe you can hide from evil. They are willing to see our cities in smoldering ruins from suitcase nukes and suicide bombers.

Joe Lieberman, the guy Al Gore BACKSTABBED wants to confront these evil SOBs and kill them before any more American MEN and WOMEN lose their lives.

You do your nephew no honor by politicizing his sacrifice. He wasn't drafted and I am sure he'd agree with that fact.

The quicker we eliminate our enemies, the quicker we can focus on our problems here at home.

I hope my fellow citizens of NH and Iowa smarten up quickly and vote for Joe. He can go toe to toe with * and dare I say it, prevail.

8. And how is diverting our resources from fighting Al Qaeda
to fight a needless war in Iraq going to prevent suitcase nukes and suicide bombers from coming to our shores. Lest we forget we had people falling out of the sky on September 11, 2001, because of Osama bin Laden and his haters, not because of Slimy Sadaam Hussien.:nuke: :grr:

Are you confident enough to wager there are NO A.Qs in Iraq?

I'm not.

I think the military is strong enough to multitask--to do Afghanistan and Iraq for now. In Iraq I favor turning over mop ups to UN/NATO, if we can ever mend the fences with our scornful allies.

It would do a lot to soothe the ethno-nationalism in Iraq if 3rd parties were involved in administration and rebuilding. We could focus on terrarist hunting specifically.

10. They weren't there before the invasion,
but they are certainly there now. So, we need to do whatever it takes to clean up the mess we made, and make sure Al Qaeda doesn't turn Iraq into another Afghanistan. I just don't think we should have gone off on the Iraq tangent, when we weren't finished in Afghanistan yet.
By the way, Welcome to DU. :hi: Sorry about the anger of my first post.

12. Do not insult my nephew
Edited on Thu Jan-15-04 09:39 PM by The Zanti Regent
If YOU think I despise Bush and Liberman, ask him how HE feels!

BTW, Gore STOPPED the Millenium plot to blow up the Seattle Space Needle.

Gore would have STOPPED 9/11

Bush allowed it.

The Bush you love killed 3,000 people.

Gore didn't

If you think Bush is so wonderful, why aren't you in the Army?

11.  2 Questions
Edited on Thu Jan-15-04 03:08 PM by oldcoot
1) Why would anyone care about what a drug addict (Rush Limbaugh) has to say about Dr. Steinberg?

2) If Bush is so popular, why do his supporters need to attack Dr. Steinberg? Why not just let Bush's wonderful record speak for itself?
