Secretary of Defense Robert Gates Emboldens America’s Enemies with Propaganda Stunt
America’s military chose to unveil their newest toy Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 just two days before the largest peace protest since before the start of war with Iraq in 2003.

To demonstrate the new microwave beam weapon it was aimed at enlisted airmen in full military uniforms at Moody Air Base in Georgia.

In response to being blasted by the invisible microwave radiation the airmen scampered for cover like a bunch of teen-aged girls who’d lost the top of their bikinis while diving into the pool.

The day after the video of America’s uniformed airmen scampering like girls aired all over the world Secretary of Defense Robert Gates had this to say about a Congressional Resolution in opposition to President Bush’s proposed “surge”.

"It's pretty clear that a resolution that in effect says that the general going out to take command of the arena shouldn't have the resources he thinks he needs to be successful certainly emboldens the enemy and our adversaries,"

Gates continued;

"I think it's hard to measure that with any precision, but it seems pretty straightforward that any indication of flagging will in the United States gives encouragement to those folks,"

By allowing his department to be used by the administration to stage a propaganda stunt to intimidate those who were planning to march on Washington Secretary Gates did far more to embolden America’s enemies than the Congressmen doing their jobs.

Secretary Gates should resign.

3. Thanks,
I am the author, and as the Gates quotes circulated widely I did not feel that it was necessary to source them. I also posted this to Smirking Chimp.

4. I saw that demonstration on TV too.
All I could think of was the deaths that would occur when a crowd stampeded to get away from that microwave with a delivery system....

5. You probably won't need a stampede for deaths,
most of the articles on the test noted that the microwave weapon has higher power settings that could cause injury or death.
