Dream Dean
Published on Thursday, December 11, 2003 by CommonDreams.org

Al Gore’s endorsement gives Howard Dean a unique opportunity...To capture this historic opportunity, Dr. Dean needs a new framework, a new strategic concept, and a new approach to Federal revenue....

...The outline of a sustainable American economic engine is simple and clear: we must shift from suburban sprawl to metropolitan smart growth; from regressive income taxes to waste taxes; from industrial subsidies to subsidy free markets; and from fossil fuels to renewable energy....

2. Al Gore is political kryptonite
Who's the last politician Al Gore endorsed? Gray Davis.

Face it, Al Gore blew the easiest election in recent history. We didn't lose because of the Supreme Court or Florida, we lost because Gore ran a piss-poor campaign. The margin should have been so huge for the Democrats that no amount of chads could alter it.

Al Gore wants to be a leader in the Democratic party, but instead, he's been a failure and a disappointment. By standing with Howard Dean, he's only reinforcing the image of Dean (and himself) as an opportunistic hypocrite who is more interested in his own ego than the needs of this nation.

So hurrah for the Al Gore endorsement - I wonder, since he coudn't even win his own home state in 2000, what makes anyone think he can help Dean?

Dean's a sinking ship, and the only hope he gives is to Karl Rove, who's licking his lips at the thought of running against him.
