Patrick Fitzgerald: We've Been Taken For A Ride
AN ALARMING RANT--VERY LONG--DON'T KNOW THE AUTHOR FROM ADAM...WHAT DO YOU THINK?

http://www.opednews.com/articles/not_sh_lindberg_060623_patrick_fitzgerald_3a_.htm

Who and what is Patrick Fitzgerald? Certainly no one Karl Rove or Dick Chaney need to worry about. He's mostly Rudi Giuliani's and Karl Rove's creation -- that of a hard-working, no nonsense prosecutor of unquestionable moral character. One may wonder why he'd be walking on the Potomac after studying Roe vs. Wade in Law School -- as the old SNL joke goes. We can wonder all we want. Fitzgerald is "untouchable" at the moment. He even kinds of reminds people of Elliot Ness. Not the real one who eventually died of alcoholism or Kevin Costner one -- the Robert Stack one.

Why has no one so much as bothered to connect the dots on "Fitzy" since he was named Special Prosecutor in the Plamegate affair? For one, I suspect it's because the story's a career graveyard for any journalist who does. Such is Karl's grip on the MSM; still as potent and threatening as ever.
......

It's what Rove's sitting on that bothers me -- and it's in Karl's hip pocket. It's Patrick Fitzgerald -- the "Eagle Scout" of the legal profession. Journalists make good money -- great money by my standards -- but when comparing the sedentary way they do background on political appointees -- Rove comes out looking like a track star.

While nearly everyone -- even those in the alternative media -- were back-slapping each other over the Libby indictment, nobody bothered to read the fine print. Patrick Fitzgerald had been carefully groomed in Rudy Giuliani's office, and not just for his prosecutorial and intellectual skills. He's a GOP and neo-con loyalist to the bone. More simply put, a trusted servant who could be counted on to contain criminal investigations -- and subsequent sinking political fortunes -- that often result from large-scale Republican corruption.

Finding a "knight in shining armor" to investigate himself? Only Karl Rove could have pulled off a coup like that. Conservative pundits and politicians are making the rounds saying that Fitzgerald -- in not pressing charges against Rove -- proves Fitzy's "above partisan politics." Go figure. All that nonsense proves is that doublethink's still all the rage in DC.

1. Guess Rove knows something everyone else who knows him doesn't
Because everyone who's worked with the man of any political persuasion has come off and has told exactly one story about him, because he's acted in an ultra consistent and meticulously professional manner. If Rove really does have such supernatural powers, that he knows that this is all one giant act and that taking down Gov. Ryan was a secret Rove hit job after all, then he deserves to be considered the Second Coming after all.

8. Another POV worth considering..
After Karl's last trip in front of the GJ, the feeling of a noose tightening around his neck was palpable.

Then suddenly, voila- We heard White House Church bells ringing out: "No Indictment Coming for Rove!!"

What we didn't hear was: 'Rove vindicated-' 'Rove has no involvement in Plame Case.'

Truthfully, the lack of hearing Rove asserting vindication after a lengthy grueling process, struck me as unnatural.

Instead, here is what we did see and hear:

Karl's rush to the microphone attempting to whip up faith based morale. Karl seeking media face time ad infinitum, babbling about, in a nervous frenzy sloganeering. If the ole Bush coined 'Cut and Run' was the best he could muster as the centerpiece for his campaign base; well then, in my mind's eye, something is definitely awry here.

My first impression after watching a short news clip of him on the evening news was 'he's turned', he's definitely turned states evidence' and has been granted immunity from prosecution,to get himself off the hook. My next thought was, who would be the most likely benefactor of Karl's betrayal. My best guess: 'Cheney'. Why Cheney? He's become a liability to Bush and no longer a useful asset. Although they share the responsibility equally in their corruption scams. He can easily be replaced to refresh Bush's beleaguered image. So, iow..I wouldn't put it past Rove to give Cheney up to prosecutors as the monumental sacrifice, thereby (politically) absolving Bush of all responsibility for a floundering economy, Iraq, Plame, Gitmo, Soldier deaths and a whole host of other anomalous Bush policies.

I have nothing in the way of hard evidence to support my position.

I'm reporting this on sheer instinct.

2. I think I've been steeling myself to see another whitewash all
along. I've been suspecting this will proceed exactly as the anthrax mailing investigation proceeded: some minor progress was made, then the wagons were circled, the stone wall of silence erected, and the investigation stopped dead.

I would be delighted to be proven wrong. I just don't think that's going to happen. One of the benefits to owning all 3 branches of government is that nobody's going to push for much of an investigation, ever, and a whitewash will be accepted without question.

3. Weird. That's what I think.
We are not far enough into the Scooter trial to know what Mr. Fitzgerald is up to. That's why it's easy for anyone to put a spin on things. Of course, we were disappointed that there was no indictment...yet...for KKKarl. Eventually we will know why. The story is way too big for it to stay buried. But there is no way that Mr. Fitzgerald should be out talking about why he made the decisions he made regarding indicting or not indicting any of the other players. He owes it to his case to keep his mouth shut until the filings are filed and the arguments are argued and the decision is decided...by a jury.

5. It's odd that in the Islamic world, there are literally thousands of
people who are willing to die for what they believe in. But, in our culture, we can't even find one
key person who is willing to risk telling the truth. I say "key person" meaning someone who is "in the know" and has the proof to back it up. One knowledgeable person could bring the Bush administration down, one courageous patriot. Where is he/she?

6. Getting Their Heads Handed to Them on a Daily Basis
The BFEE goes beyond ruthless--they are evil. They will trash anything, just so they have more.

7. Guess Fitzgerald will no longer be able to say "the WH" has cooperated.
Cause he is now swiftboated. And we all know nothing swiftboat like happens without the FAX TREE in Grover's office.

Yup - the second they attack someone for their greatest strengths.. the sociopaths are on the case.

9. I think that part of the rant is
innuendo, with far too many unproven connections and associations.

Other parts show Fitzgerald doesn't automatically agree with everybody, esp. with the writer. Even in one telling point he says, essentially, 'Yes, we could do what everybody else says we could do, but then we'd be committing perjury, now wouldn't we?' Fitzgerald says Libby's perjury is bad ... hero; Fitzgerald says his own perjury would be bad ... the bastard!

Much has been made of the 'wall' nonsense. Whether or not it existed on paper, it existed in the minds of the practioners of the law. It's not the text, it's the interpretation.

As for the Federalist Society, Akaka is invited to debate before one of the branches. I guess Akaka's just another neocon fascist Federalist, since he actually breathed the same air--and we all know that this kind of guilt comes easily through association.

The writer may be right, but he doesn't really give any evidence, and my default hypothesis isn't that somebody's corrupt and a traitor unless proven otherwise beyond all doubt; my default assumption also doesn't depend upon whether the person agrees with me or not. This rant fails the critical thinking 'sniff test'.

10. this has Rove written all over it
