Hanging by a thread and why it’s probably too late

By Esbe

I think it’s too late to save the Republic. I know this isn’t going to be a popular message, and I know it’s not very motivating, but we got into this situation by repeated failures to comprehend the gravity of each act which lead us to this point.

Ross Perot once used the phrase “Giant sucking sound” to describe the effect NAFTA would have on American job losses to Mexico. It is as good a term as any for the sound of the Democrat’s in Congress collective enabling this national nightmare.

All the usurpations and crimes, from the first stolen election, through 9-11, and every miserably failed policy enacted through lies too numerous to recount, may have been survivable –with great effort and much pain-, but one set of acts have certainly sealed the fate of the United States; Bush’ appointment of two Supreme Court Justices from the Federal Society who advocated a “Unitary Executive Theory”.

With those unopposed appointments, I believe the fate of this nation has been sealed into a final descent into a dictatorship from which there will be no hope of escape. The ABA (American Bar Association) is attempting to investigate Bush’ so-called “signing statements” where Bush usurps the authority of Congress and takes the power of a Dictator, (750 of them to date) and hopes to challenge them. Where exactly do they believe they’re going to challenge the concept? In a Supreme Court who’s judges were hand picked specifically to place the Executive branch above the law?

MORE ANALYSIS AND A SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF HOPE FOLLOW....

1. Tax Protesters. I wonder if that's who the new concentration camps
were built for? Jay is right, of course. We (and I include myself) are too damned scared to do anything about this long, slow death march.

5. Unfortunately, that's the way I see it too.
Sometimes you have to take apart the whole structure in order to fix it, especially if the existing structure is completely broken.

I think there is too much corruption, too many really bad people in high places who are destroying what little is left to save.

The ironic thing is, with every victory they claim, the more they assure the whole system going down in flames. Every time they steal more billions or stick their friends into places where they can assure more corruption, they seal their own fate.

They will be going down, like the rest of us, to an uncertain fate.

What IS certain is that it's going to fall apart. It was a nice experiment. It lasted 230 years. But it's now run its course.

your sig line: "The great only appear great because we are on our knees. Stand up." Irish Revolutionary James Connolly

We simultaneously believe in the principles and are totally lame.

10. You've got a point.
Maybe I should change my sig line. I put that on there when I first joined the DU....about 4 years ago. (about 8,000 posts later)

Since then, I've really changed my point of view about a lot of things..much more cynical, see the whole picture now....it's much blacker than I ever knew.

13. Well... this "Esbe" person has good points....
I really don't believe that the 'elite infrastructure' really has what it would take to keep a revolution down. They really do not seem to have learned from the history of oppressed peoples.

Oh, they think they have it well in hand... and I have to give them credit. They're keeping us divided, and that's the first part of the formula...

But I think they believe that and their influence is all they will need to avoid execution by mob.

It will only take one who can communicate the truth to Americans, and it will only take a few months for the message to spread. Then there will be forests of pikes with the former 'elite' for decoration.

Who was on that 'energy task force' again?

14. I didn't know Roberts bought that unitary executive crap too
As soon as I heard Alito asked about it and not unequivocally denounce it, I thought the Democrats should do everything to keep him off the bench.

They didn't.

I'm wondering why the ABA gave these sacks of shit the thumbs up.
